Ever wonder how a Paraglider that has no engine is able to fly so high and so far?

In cross country Paragliding our goal is to find thermals (invisible lifting parcels of air) to gain height and we use that height to glide to a place where we can find another thermal. We hop from one thermal to another thermal to fly far. Sometimes hundreds of kilometers.

Ever noticed the big birds? A lot of time you can see them circling and even without flapping their wings they are gaining height. That's because they are circling in a thermal.

Now you must be wondering how a thermal forms? Well in simple words when the sun heats the surface of earth the are that comes in contact with that surface gets heat up. And after some point that warm air starts rising up in the atmosphere.

When Paragliding you get to see the world from height and you get to listen to the voice of nature as you are flying without an engine.

Since Himalayas are the highest mountain range in the world thermals can get really high. Up here the temperature is really low. But the view is spectacular.
