I feel important

Hey!

I just wanted to express an idea I stumbled upon in my head in the last few months. I actually started writing this post a few months ago, but I was too lazy. Well, here I am.

The idea of being one of the "wave of people" walking to school or work in the early morning is, for me, a wonderful experience.

Sounds odd? Let me explain.

There is just something really nice about fitting into the grey matter, so-to-say. I have always been the person who tries to lay low in every situation. That is probably the reason why I have essentially never celebrated my birthday with a huge party or wanted to be in the centre of attention. I mean, okay, every person loves attention, but whenever I needed attention, I needed it from one or two particular people, who I admired at the time.

Whenever I walked to school or to work in the early mornings, I felt cleansed. Maybe it's just me, but with every person I saw on the way to where I was going, I felt a connection. You might as well call it friendship at this point. Whenever I walked on the street and somebody turned away, I felt as if a part of me had left and gone the other way. And I was okay with it, I felt that they, too, are important people and they are going somewhere, where they're needed. There was always somebody waiting for them, as there was somebody waiting for me.

And I felt as if I was part of something bigger. I have never really felt like a part of the world or have never really realized how many people there are in the world and how little of a spec I am in the grand scheme of things. But at that moment, I was a part of those people walking with me. It was a mutual silence, which felt amazing.

I don't usually write a lot of posts like this. But if you'd like me to write about my life more, let me know, because sometimes I get bored and sometimes I want to write about the things that matter to me. I have no idea if someone even reads these, but I hope, in my heart, that someone besides me really cares. 🙂
