The Damsel and the Devil (Part 2)

in #blog6 years ago

After a long, yet much needed shower Rebecca strolled into the kitchen to make herself some dinner. Glancing at the counter she noticed the card she had thrown away sitting on the counter propped up against a bottle of chardonnay that sure as hell had not been there when she came in. Getting a little creeped out, she walked over and picked up the card, “What the hell? I threw you away when I walked in.”

The Damsel and the Devil (part 2)

Again she tossed the card into the garbage. Just as she turned around to deal with the bottle of wine she yelped. The card was right back where she had taken it from. Her stomach churned as she tried to think of what to do with the ever appearing card. Walking back over to the trash she opened the lid and shivered as she found that the card wasn’t there.

Did the card have a mind of its own?

“I’m going to throw you away one last time,” she stated — picking up the card —“Stay there.”

She tossed it in there only to turn and find it in the same place. She bit her lip and wondered what to do and why this was happening. After a moment of thought she remembered she had asked the Devil for proof. Still biting her lip she picked up the card. Studying it she noticed that what she thought had been a number were words.

"Say my name."

She swallowed then whispered the name written in gold.

“Took you long enough.”

That deep voice purred behind her. His scent wrapped around her like a warm embrace. Rebecca peeked over her shoulder at him. Her blue eyes were wide with the nervous fear she felt. Had he been there the whole time?

She swallowed thickly as she turned to look up at him. She asked softly — her voice quaked slightly from fear of him — “How did you get in?”

The chuckle of amusement that filled her ears made her shiver like she was once more out in that cold wet rain. “I have my ways.”

“What do you want now?” she barely managed.

Those golden eyes stared down into hers. “I’ve already told you that, sweet child. Your soul,” the manner in which he spoke was meant to sooth her fear and make her a bit more comfortable with him.

“For whatever I want right?” Rebecca asked, trying to become more brave and take control of her racing pulse.

“Yes,” he answered leaning down close to her. “Whatever your heart asks for."

His golden eyes seemed to house a bit of orange now as well. The two colors made her think of flames that devoured all in their path. He smiled widely showing fangs that she hadn’t noticed earlier.

Feeling like a fly trapped in a spider’s web, she couldn’t tear her eyes from his. Her heart thundered in her ears as she was slowly stepped backwards till her lower back bumped into the counter. A breath later she found herself sitting on the counter with his tall slender form between her legs with his hands resting on the top on either side of her hips.

Seyton towered over her. A long braid fell over his shoulder — the tip tickling the top of her bare thigh. This close the few pins of gold crowned with rubies, sapphires, and diamonds that were placed along the length of the braid were visible and glinted softly in the low light of the kitchen. She noticed a small black stone stud in his left ear.

His suit was obviously tailored to fit his wide shoulders and lean hips. The black cloth was pin striped with dark blue. Under it was a cobalt blue button up shirt. Without touching it she guessed it was cotton. Her hands somehow found their way to his hips as he leaned down more. His lush lips mere inches from hers.

“What is your wish?” he asked softly.

“I wish to never be alone again,” she says softly without thought and a heavy tiredness.

The corner of his lips quirked slightly, “And will you give the devil your soul in return for your wish?”

She nodded lightly. The girl wasn’t even sure if she could speak with him so close to her. Then he was closer. His lips brushed softly over hers at first then took hers in a bone melting kiss. After what seemed as minutes instead of seconds she was kissing him back and gasping for breath. Her mind was so cloudy, so light that she wasn’t sure she could remember her own name.

Wow! Were all kisses meant to be like that? — She thought to herself.

She glanced up at those eyes again then let out a startle screech as she noticed how inhuman he truly was. Large dark grey horn sprouted from the temples of his head and curved up the back. Bands of gold were wrapped about them in varying spots.

Some of the bands held precious gems. One on his left horn had a drop shaped bit of gold that dangled with a blue topaz capping it. It reminded her of rain strangely. The pupils of his eyes were now cat shaped.

His eyes were slightly narrowed at her conveying annoyance but the soft smile on his lips told her that he found her fear amusing. Just as she was about to open her mouth to say something about it she noticed they were no longer in her kitchen but in a foyer.

She no longer sat a counter top but a table the kind that most families tossed mail and things on top of as they walked into their house. The white veined black marble was cold as ice.

“Where are we?” she whispered softly. She wrapped her arms about herself to try and fight off the cold of the hallway she just noticed. Her eyes stared up into his again before nervously glancing away.

That soft smile fell slightly as he shook his head, “Dear child, don’t be stupid. Think a little if you need to think at all. You should already know that answer.”
