Blockchain influencers & digital ambassadors: tips for your online presence

in #blog6 years ago (edited)

Hi I am Jean, for a little while on the side of @GlobalSchool I am working on establishing @yumleadership, a company my friend @manncpt is founding with the support of Peter.

I am really happy and lucky we found each others and are able to pursue my work within a frame which recognise and allow my (sometimes crazy) innovative/creative thinking to flourish and its possible to employ me as CIO/CTO to pursue my life passions and work.

@yumleadership provides Strategic Design Consulting in the business, communication and tech/innovation fields. Another important goal is to ensure the prosperity of the various projects we are developing with the community, counting for example outcomes of the Idea Machine Wien (@ideamachine), the Global School (@globalschool) or Community Laboratory (@com-lab) all developed under the Internet of Ideas (@innovations) umbrella, the joint initiative of notably @opt2o, @generationeuropa and @solidarity.

At this early stage, one of our specialisation is to design solutions that support innovators, influencers and digital ambassadors to enhance their brands and make their message more impactful and start to address them with our solutions.

As we are launching @yumleadership in the next weeks and the number of people and friends asking me for advises as they are or want to become ambassadors for a community, a platform or a company, and I can't give to everyone consulting hours for free (which is lets be honest not so healthy in this world). I decided to make some researches and write a post to support anyone who is or become an ambassador or influencer.

Bridging the gaps between the brand of your employer(s) and their audience. An offline/online day to day life balance.

Nowadays, people think that to be an ambassador of a company or a brand you need only a huge number of followers on your social media accounts. It is right to think being an ambassador means that you are also present on social networks. Indeed, the general public will be reached via Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Steemit, @Dtube, @Fundtion, ONO and many other channels on which we share both our happiness, instants of glory and our misfortunes. However online engagement is only the surface and it is important to create real relations to not stay secluded behind a screen. There are many ways to engage your audience in real life and I highly recommend to any influencer to keep a balance between their digital and offline connections as numbers can turn anyone crazy, but real life connections and support can't be replaced. While numbers can be ephemeral the relations you are building with people are not. Thats is one of the reason I love to work with Christoph. He is very sensitive to people he is meeting and intuitive in relationship development. As I am working on things such as big data, blockchain and AI, he builds the bridge with the network.

Traditional businesses tend to communicate in a very factual way while focusing heavily on the consumer. You can notice employees are much more aware of the human side of a business on social networks. People share on social media when they have attended this or that event, to share their interesting encounters ... and memories. This is what @globalschool wants to stimulate because it is a great way to show the human side of socially engaged companies to the outside world.

Another good Example of balance between online and offline representation:

Hi lovely people! Recently, I had a chance to visit team Global school at work, lean more about the project and meet lovely Globalschool Students from different countries in Europe. @siamcat | @Fundition Angel

If you are making some researches online you'll rapidly realise that companies want to be present at all places where consumers are. Companies need strategies and want people to talk about them as often as possible and all in a positive way, especially when it comes to the brand image of the employer.

And no, a simple message posted on Facebook or on the Blockchain will not make a difference on its own. It's the continuous, repetitive and consistent presence of the hashtag #globalschool that will make the difference. Every publication, resteem or steem account, continues @manncpt.

To do and to avoid in the Blockchain Era

Online, what you publish falls under your personal responsibility. Therefore, always be respectful, professional, positive and remember that everything you post will stay online for a long time even if you can delete it or edit it, traces will remain.

Do not be anonymous: tell who you are and, if useful, specify the company you work for and what you do there.

When sharing a text, video, or photo, be sure to respect copyrights and use if necessary a @creative-commons license to protect your content (check out the post of @shortcut and visit http://creative-commons.org for more information!).

Beware of "confidential" information that has not yet been officially released. Being at the heart of a leak can bring your reputation down.

More and more people are traveling for work or are becoming nomads. Avoid mentioning names of customers, partners or suppliers. Do not post any messages that may offend them or geolocate you while traveling for a confidential meeting. Trust and anti trust are the heart of your activity as influencer.

Even if it is probably not the right path big platforms are allowing and using banishments and delation as common practices. Do not use abusive, obscene or discriminating words. Online and offline disagreements often end badly. Do not participate in conflicts and learn to control yourself. It is better sometimes to ignore negative or aggressive comments than to answer them without thinking about the consequences of your actions.

Be aware of your relationship with your employer. If you present yourself as 'employee of', make sure that what you publish online is in line with the way you want to be seen by your colleagues and customers.

Last but not least, bring added value. Share interesting and positive information about the company you work for, the services you offer and the products you market. Be a true ambassador!

with a lot of love,
Jean

Even on Sunday you continue to make a good work boss!!

The boss is always working! xD

cute pic and wise words

Proud to work with you, man! See you tomorrow with the new students. :)

I might sound a little tacky what I write now, after reading your emotional article the other day. I am an ambassador of “kindness”, love, truth, justice, understanding ....first of all......the list needs to be continued :) 🦋

Online presence versus real life relationships! That’s a huge topic on my mind for quite some time.
I would love to go back in time and tell stories when we did not have smartphones to connect us and what we had to do to even meet and figure out how to network.....
