Brief History of Front Royal

I've lived in Front Royal, VA for about eleven years now and I've become quite acquiantanted with the small town that rests less than a two hour drive from the nation's capital. Over the years residing in this town, I have come to hear numerous nicknames. From canoe capital of Virginia to meth capital of Virginia, "Fro Ro" offers both the best and worst parts rural America has to offer. The very first nickname assigned to the area was Hell Town, but for an interesting reason.

Hell Town

The nickname hell town isn't because the town is miserable nor because the town rests on exit 6 of Route 66 (666). Instead of negative connotations, Hell Town comes from the original settlers. During the early 18th century, German immigrants from Pennsylvania traveled to Front Royal in order to plant crops and return to their homes in PA. They would return months later to harvest their crops from the land they dubbed "Bright Town", which in German is Hell Town. One of the original buildings from those times is currently a museum featuring this knowledge.

@bethalea has been recruiting me for months to join @BuildAWhale's curation team and I've mostly put it on the back burner but I decided I will include a section of these blogs dedicated towards providing a handful of posts submitted to @BuildAWhale for upvoting. Without further adieu, I present you BuildAWhale Curation:

@G-Dubs wrote a review for a decentralized exchanged called IDEX in this post titled Checking Out AuroraDAO’s Decentralized Exchange, IDEX. He also discusses AuroaDAO with a good review. Here is an excerpt from his post:

If you’ve used decentralized exchanges before, like EtherDelta, you know they can be a pain to use compared to the centralized exchanges. Aurora’s IDEX improves on the experience.

So far as I’ve been watching IDEX it has been doing about 500k to $1.5 million per day in volume. EtherDelta generally does between $5 and $15 million.

Italien blogger @yanosh01 wrote about his cryptocurrency experiences in his native tongue in this post titled, La mia malattia per le Criptovalute e le app che non possono mancare!!!. Here are a few excerpts:

I so very much love such short real stories and experiences from people and places, specially from small towns and villages. I plan to share some stories from my childhood in a tea garden some time in the future....

Whew Walmart has been keeping me busy, sorry for late reply. Thanks very much please let me know if you post one on history of your town, I'll show some love

Nice pictures, you got me with hell meaning bright in German, I really had no idea.

Yeah, there's a German composer called Felix Hell who always jokes he is the composer from hell
