The story behind Obsiden Silence
Good Afternoon Steemit!
I made my intro post yesterday, read here , and I mentioned being a tech geek, and in one of the pictures I showed my current computer case. I mentioned there was a story behind it, and this post is going to tell the story.
This all started back in April of 2010, I was a staff member on a large overclocking site, and was heavily involved with cutting edge performance CPU's (processors) and GPUs (graphics cards). We were trying to set world record speeds and benchmarks. In the process of this I got to know several people, one of which is probably the finest craftsman I've ever had the pleasure of speaking with.
He used the screen name Syrillian, and created masterpieces out of acrylic and computer parts. Here's a few of his creations.
And there are a ton more. This guy was amazing!
My good friend and fellow staff member commissioned a build with Syrillian of a tech bench. At the time, you could only find one online to purchase and that set you back $250 or so for the minimal case. That money would be put to much better use in Syrillian's hands. In the month leading up to the build me and my friend spoke several times about color options, design, layout, the list went on and on. I was lucky enough to be part of the design process by just being a good friend. After some time, a few renders were made.
The build process was posted on the forum via Syrillian. The whole community was drooling over this case and my friend had worked so hard on the design, everyone knew it was going to be epic.
Finally the moment came when it was done, and final assembly pictures were posted.
I think you all would agree it's beautiful, and definitely a work of art.
So my friend got the case, used it for a year, maybe 2, and life happened and he had to get rid of it. (Cats and kids with an open computer probably isn't the best combo) Somehow, I was the first person he contacted about finding a home for the case, and without hesitation, asking a price, anything, I said send it my way.
Turns out he didn't want any money for it, he just wanted me to hold onto it until things settled down for him, and then I'd ship it back to him. He knew it was too beautiful of a case to box up and store somewhere, and it should be in use on display somewhere. This was roughly late 2012, maybe early 2013.
After receiving the case, Syrillian sadly passed away due to cancer, and I believe this was the last build he actually completed, making the case even more special.
And that’s the story of how I came into possession of this one off, completely hand built amazing case. Everyone that comes over and see’s it always asks if it’s my computer, which is amusing.

I'll leave you with a few pictures.
Thanks for reading!

What a beauty, and what an effort. Nice work!
Thank you. It really wasn't much work for me though, I'm just the lucky guy that was in the right spot at the right time. haha
awesome!!!
I mentioned the other day how much I liked that beauty. Nice Post'n!
A sad story but worth sharing man, thank you.
The case is indeed a work of art, looks like it is in good hands now 👍🏾
