#5 Tokyo PROS and CONS (travel blog)
TOKYO!!!!
After another long but very comfortable 20 hour flight we finally arrived to Narita airport in Tokyo!
If you ever been to Tokyo you might have had the feeling of time traveling trough some black hole in to another dimension 20 years in to the future, anyway thats my first impression of this high-tech mega city.
Just to give you an example of what i'm talking about here!
After the long flight with maybe to many glass of drinks i felt the exploding urge to locate a toilet asap.
I locked the door and in front of me was no normal toilet! it was a future toilet with a spinning seat, 10 different glowing knobs and no apparent flush. I sat down and let the magic happen ohh that felt good!!! Now what? which of these buttons will activate the flush? i pressed one of them and relaxing birdsong came out from this toilet!
Like a caveman i clicked another button, a beem of water started spraying strait up in the air, like a fountain....oh!! this is fun.
Before i found out how to flush a line had been growing outside the door, and I never felt so civilised in my life!
We grabbed a taxi that dropped us of not to far from stylish Shibuya. We where "home"
standing in front of an old classic Japanese house on an otherwise modern aria, this house was a jackpot!
On the outside it looked like it belonged to a Japanese horror movie, and the inside reminded me of a Bruce Lee karate movie with rice paper walls and Japanese tatami mats covering the floors.
While walking down the stairs to the bottom floor we passed a door our new landlord told us to never open that door! the old Japanese lady told us a very bad spirit lives in there, if you ever open that door the spirit will mess up your life, or something like that. Guess what we did as soon as she left?
Exhausted from the flight we fell asleep on the thin tatami mats, woke up hours later thinking it must be morning soon!
-Lets go grab some sushi guys!! the truth was the jet lag had twisted our minds and messed up our cense of time! in fact it was only 2 am, what ever we got dressed walked around Tokyo at night in search of food. the only place that was open around this time was the convenience stores. Interesting food in neatly packed boxes, coffee in small cans and some kind of steembun became our first breakfast...BTW the box of food was great, we later found out they where called bento box, and was a great get to know the Japanese kitchen because of the mix of things it contains.
SHIBUYA
Shibuya is a great place for good night life with allot of different and very unique themed bars and clubs. Themes like Horror, aladdin or why not this one Alcatraz bar.
Don't miss out on singing karaoke, many places got all you can drink on the menu! and 1000s of songs to pick from.
Shibuya is a good place to go out shopping, very trendy and stylish clean and pulsating part of Tokyo.
THE SUBWAY!!
Try not to get to frustrated reading the subway-map, i know it look like a spaghetti at first! By the time you will go back home you will figure it out!
SHINJUKU
This is district in Tokyo brings out all the strangeness out of Japan!
Young guys and girls are promoted on big billboards. At first you might think these people must be in a boy/girls band! but NO!!
These people are making a very good livelihood on simply drinking and hanging out with whom ever got the ridiculous amount of cash to pay them for just the pleasure to hang out. This job is called "host" and is a sugar mamas wet fantasy!
