Welcome to my blog, !!! Today I bring you a well-known case that still leaves many doubts about what really happened. This is the case of Anneliese Michelle, a case that inspired horror and exorcism movies. Without further introduction let's get started !!!

Anneliese Michelle was born on September 21, 1952 in Leiblfing, Germany. His parents were Josef and Anna Michelle, both were very religious and middle class, he also had three more sisters. Anneliese had a very Christian education, as a child she dreamed of being a teacher, helping other people and knowing the world.

In 1968 her life began to change when she began to shake and realized that she had no control of her body, her parents found her shaking several minutes later. A urologist at the Würzburg psychiatric clinic diagnosed her with epilepsy, and due to the severe seizures she was suffering, she was admitted for treatment in hospital. At that time Anneliese was 16 years old, she began a long treatment that did not improve her condition, but worsened, which led to a deep depression, and the medications did not contribute to her cure. Anneliese constantly prayed to be healed, or for a miracle to occur that would cure her, however she reported having diabolical nightmares during her prayers. Two years later, she began to claim that she was possessed, after her third crisis she was admitted to the hospital, she was prescribed her first anticonvulsant, this medication had side effects, it caused her brain to lose sodium, which promoted food withdrawal. There were three years of suffering in which her condition was getting worse, this led Anneliese to convince that the medications had no effect and she explained to the doctors that various demons made her convulse, she told them that these demons forced her to insult and have horrendous thoughts. Anneliese wanted spiritual help and she was the one who said she needed an exorcism. In the first instance, his parents sought help from a priest who rejected the idea of exorcism, and only changed his medications and prescribed expertise.

During the summer of 1973 her parents looked to various pastors for help, in addition to receiving refusals and for her to entrust her daughter to the doctors, they were informed of the requirements that the church requests to perform an exorcism. For the priest to recognize a manifestation of a demon, the person had to show an aversion to religious objects, show an inordinate strength, and suffer the ability to speak other languages that he does not know. Her parents return home and tell Anneliese about this and she makes a mental note of this. In November 1974, a priest Luis Alt, convinced of the existence of demons in the girl's body, asked the bishop for authorization to carry out the exorcism, the request is denied. Anneliesse's behavior worsens and becomes more dangerous, she cruelly insults her family, attacking their weak points, in addition to hitting them. She refused to eat any food, claiming that the demons prevented her, the girl slept on a stone floor, ate spiders, flies and drank her own urine, She began to self-mutilate and hit the walls and furniture. After a verification that now included all the requirements for an exorcism in September 1975 the Bishop of Woodbury Josep Stan, assigned Father Arnol Rands and Pastor Ernest Old the order to carry out the exorcism on Anneliese, which in his own words , was possessed by 7 demons, among them Lucifer, Cain, Judas Iscariot, Nero, Hitler and a corrupt priest from the 16th century. Preparations began,One or two exorcism sessions were performed each week and the mental and physical health of the girl worsened with each one of them, some of the attacks were so violent that they had to restrain her between several men, on one occasion she sent her father and the priest to the other end of the room with a bang. The exorcism took place and in the course of it they tied her to the bed with chains, deprived her of sleep, water and food, a psychiatrist said that hers was a very strange picture of paranoid schizophrenia, he medicated her and after several months she was able to return To school and to take final exams in the pedagogy academy, she also went to church every day, but Ernest Old insisted on the demonic presence and she stopped her medication, at which point the attacks returned. Anneliese did not go to eat during this period, the ligaments and little bones of her knee were torn since in each of the exorcism sessions she performed a minimum of six hundred genuflections, while her parents documented everything, more than 40 audio tapes were recorded during the process and several photographs were taken.

On June 30 Anneliese was seriously ill, suffered from pneumonia and had a fever, at 00:06 on July 1 she had died, her mother had recorded the death of her own daughter, at 12 noon the pastor reported the death to the authorities, the prosecutor began to investigate the case. The girl's parents and the two priests were arrested and charged with negligent homicide, the trial began on March 30, 1978, which according to the highway Anneliese died of malnutrition and pneumonia in addition to suffering internal bleeding. The exorcists tried to prove to the law the presence of the devil by putting the recorded tapes. During weeks the conduct of the priests and the girl's state of health were evaluated, reaching a verdict, the girl's parents and the two ex-sorcerers were found guilty of homicide due to negligence and for having denied first aid, they were sentenced to six months in jail and they were even granted probation. A commission of the German conference determined that Annealiese was not possessed but the believers did not stop supporting the family and priests.

11 and a half years after her burial, Annealiese's body was exhumed and subjected to another autopsy. Despite rumors to the contrary, the body showed the normal signs of putrefaction and skeletonization.

Years later, the movies based on these events did not take long to arrive, one of them is The Exorcism of Emily Rose and Requiem, where they argue that there was such a possession.

So far we have arrived with the case of today, the question I always ask myself is whether exorcisms and demonic possessions really exist or are they only the product of mental disorders and schizophrenia.

Greetings and see you in another case.
