Just an empty thought
So I had a metal blip the other day.
We all live mostly empty lives. Now I know I’m possibly exaggerating, most likely stereotyping, and most definitely going to irritate some people, but hey, it’s an opinion, not fact.
Each of us has a metaphorical hole inside (a bunch of literal holes as well but that’s not the point) that we try day in and day out to fill. Some people try to fill it with nice things, some with nice people (or angry ones, to each his own), some with religion, and some with themselves (enter self love joke). The majority, I think, will find it hard to be truly content with whatever they decide to fill the hole with. By nature humans are, let say ambitious. We strive for bigger, better, for more than we have. But that won’t fill the empty space. True happiness comes when that space inside yourself is filled, and when you are content with the contents. It’s a daily struggle and an hourly irritant, only letting us be when we’re asleep (or unconscious). We reach for the stars instead of reaching toward ourselves (and another self love joke). Being content doesn’t mean settling for less that what we need, want or think we deserve, it’s being able to accept what we have, appreciate it, nurture it, and then try to grow it into something prosperous.
It’s a feeling of peace that fills that hole, and it’s struggle I think most people lose.
Just a thought, use it, don’t use it
So true
