Apollo 11 - A Great Achievement of Mankind!

in #blog5 years ago

Over the past years, I've been learning more and more about the Apollo missions. As someone with a degree in Ship Hydrodynamics and working on a daily basis in the field of
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), I'm always pretty excited to learn more about technology, new and old!

As you might have heard, this year it has been 50 years since man first set foot on the moon. To celebrate, a special movie about the Apollo mission came out. Last night I went to see it at the cinema with a fellow researcher from our institute.

For anyone with just a little bit of interest in manned spaceflight and technology, in general, I can really recommend you go and see that movie!

You can't get anything purer than this movie. It's all original footage, no narration, interviews or comments from modern times... Just the raw material... Beautiful!

When you think about the time-span in which the goal of the Apollo missions was achieved it's truly amazing! Just 8 years after JFK had set it as a nation's goal to put a man on the moon and return it safely back to earth they did the job.

Just 8 years... Do you think in modern times an achievement like that can be done in such a short time span?

Anyways, I guess you got an idea of my enthausiasm! Here's the trailer to give you an idea about the movie:

Have a good one! // Michel

Looks great! Can't wait to see it myself!

Yeah, it's hard to believe it's original footage! Such good quality...

For real! I'd love to see more docs that are literally just well cut rips of historical events.

Agreed! I guess we’re also lucky that NASA went well out of their way to document basically everything of that mission!
