Testing wide angle lens in my village. Walking around.

in #blog7 years ago (edited)

I will start this post with the lens I wanted to test. I used Canon 10-18mm 4.5-5.6. This lens is made only for APS-C sized sensor for Canon DSLR but you can use it on some other cameras with additional adapter. It's pretty wide, at 10mm you will get 16mm on crop sensor because Canon APS-C sized sensor have 1.6x crop factor, so you multiply lens focal length with 1.6. This lens got image stabilization and silent focusing motor called STM (Stepping Motor) which is fast. Lens have 14 Elements and 11 Groups with 7 aperture blades and filter thread size of 67mm.

Let me start this testing walk with the view i have every time I go out of the house. I planned to go out at the sunset, because the view is really beautiful at this part of day.

This photo was captured at the end of my street, just a few houses from mine. As you can see, I don’t have neighbors across the street, what I see over the road is river Begej. Having a view on this river during sunset is privilege and it is really beautiful.

This is the place where my friends and I usually come to relax. As you can see, there is a huge log that is about 15 years old or maybe more, there is a lot of space for sitting, but not quite comfortable, but still it is nice.

Over the road you can see that we have a place for chilling with a lot of trees with a great shade during the summer and beautiful view of river Begej. The only problem are boring mosquitoes, but over the time we got used to it. :D

This is some wooden canopy that is placed near river. Almost every day there is some people sitting here and relaxing, making barbecue, celebrating birthdays and things like that.

This is the main street in my village, heading to center of village. Road was reconstructed few years ago, before that it was covered with road bumps.Today you can drive your car or bicycle without any problems and zig-zag driving.

Just across the school there is an orthodox church (called "Uspenje Presvete Bogorodice" ). It was built back 1934.

And entering into my backyard. Design of our backyard was done by my mother. I will leave you link from her profile on steemit, she just started doing blogs and writing, and there you can see photos of our backyard. Her username is @tanja72

I will finish this post with few words about the lens and image quality. I am really pleased with the results. At 10mm you have distortion on photo but it can be removed just by cropping it or trying to use lens correcting in post production process.
And for the end, here is my judgement of this lens stated in pros and cons:
Pros:

  1. Price (250€ new)
  2. Focal length
  3. Good image quality
  4. Great focusing and silent ( Good for making video when auto focus is on)

Cons:

  1. Distortion
  2. Widest aperture is 4.5 at 10mm and 5.6 at 18mm
  3. Plastic lens thread

Thank you for stopping by and i hope you enjoyed my photography. :)
