MAKEUP ON INSTAGRAM, YOUTUBE, AND THE REALITY

So, this article is about what we are seeing and watching all the time on Instagram and YouTube is sadly reality. I know that this might be heartbreaking for some of you, but it’s true.

Nowadays, we are kind of blind and do not really know what’s actually real and what isn’t. Society is everything to some people. For me, it’s the worst enemy you can get.

I’m a Makeup Artist and in my videos and articles, I’m doing my makeup so that I can go out with it. I do not want to look like a clown or drag queen. Maybe now you can guess the point of this article.

You know what’s really sad? That the people who want to teach us new things in a kind of a “serious” way have no chance against people who are just doing stupid things… Yes, of course, we should laugh, it’s healthy for us but there are certain limits where I think that people are losing their minds because of these stupid things, people do not want to learn new things, people do not want to read because it’s boring… that’s really sad. And these situations you can also find online when it comes to makeup.

I mean who the hell applies a ton of foundation and concealer on their face to get the “full coverage”, yes, you’re right -> Drag Queens because they want to change the whole face structure and mimic women and then they “bake” their face for hours because the makeup should stay on!

If you’re doing a daily makeup, evening makeup, nude makeup etc. (You get it) then you don’t need so much product! Less is more! Makeup Artists aren’t magicians but it’s all about creating an illusion. And if you’re seeing all these beautiful pictures it’s not always what you’re really seeing! There is a certain tool that nearly everyone uses…! Photoshop!
Of course, you can create whatever you want with makeup and it’s really useful when it comes to photo shoots, catwalks and shows/theater/musicals.

But just take it easy with how much product you’re using!
If you’re using as much makeup as you see on Instagram and YouTube, you need to have a lot of money!

Hey! I've sent you a friends request on FB :-) Nice to meet you :-)
Thank you for the compliment :-)

btw, Here is my new article about how you can become a Makeup Artist and how I became a Makeup Artist: https://steemit.com/beauty/@mvd/a-guide-to-becoming-a-professional-makeup-artist

is it true that putting makeup everyday will make your face look old faster? great article btw.

@evesick well, the sun is a lot more dangerous for the skin and it can dehydrate which means that you can get a lot more wrinkles...with makeup it's all about prep your skin (cleaning, moisturising, protecting...)correctly before you're applying anything which is related to makeup.

And also interesting about man's makeup. Can this get real?

@uneducated why couldn't get it real? trends are changing, people need to accept changes...
and you can get the "normal" makeup for a man (like you see the people on tv) or the colorful makeup which will get the new trend. :-)

Thank you for saying this! I always found the amount the MUAs on Youtube would use as their "everyday" makeup worried me, either as to how it would actually look in real life, or make me feel bad about my much much less glamorous routine.

Thanks for your comment! It is true! It's all about marketing and selling makeup products, the more you use the faster you need to rebuy the product... In real life, less is more! and If you use that much product, it just would melt down... Makeup is to enhance beauty, not to create a mask... (or you're working in a theater/Drag Queen :-P )

Hey @mvd, cool article about makeup, as a man i dont really watch alot of makeup vídeos on Youtube or Instagram as you can imagine, but from my personal opinion from friends and dates, it´s the less the better.
Womam can have some makeup sure, they look more beautifull and a man likes it, but once they over do it, omg! it reminds of the makeups womam use in the The Hunger Games movies lol and when they have an diferente color on their faces from their necks... someone overused something ;)
Peace and have a good day :)

Yes, I agree with what you're saying! Sometimes you'll see strange things ;-) but this is also kind of normal.... Makeup used to be something for Makeup Artists and Celebrities... but nowadays folks can buy/use it too... And if you do not know how to do it right, it can be really difficult....

very brave your big promotion! hope it just turns out well! will follow you for support! :)

Thank you so much!!! This just made my Day!! :-)

nice blog!

It's difficult to see who's actually a good looking woman anymore. Makeup now makes everyone look attractive and it kind of ruins the whole point of finding relationships. (I'm following you)

Yes, I can imagine that this situation can be tricky sometimes (for men) but I also think that a lot of women are looking the same because they are following "the trend" so it's nothing special or individual.

Good post. Yeah the heavy Insta look is just becoming too much now. Overdrawn lips, caterpillar eyebrows, ridiculous amounts of highlight. I make beauty videos on YouTube too, and my most recent look is probably the most I'd ever wear. Following you now!

Yep... you brought it on point!

Great read! I just upvoted you. Please do the same and follow

Thanks for sharing your makeup insider's perspective. I don't often watch makeup tutorials, but I have recently been experimenting with contour, and I've noticed that the amount of contour that works in videos does NOT translate well to everyday life. That fact becomes obvious when you "try it at home", but a lot of tutorial videos demonstrating heavy contour are titled "Great Everyday Look" so they can be misleading. I just followed you and look forward to reading more of your content! :)

The problem is when they are doing these tutorials they have so many lights around them. And if you apply makeup as you would do in real life, nobody would see it because the lights are taking so much away(mostly colors), you know what I mean? And some of the tutorials are just too stupid to me personally! Because I do not get it why they are applying that much makeup...
If you're looking in the mirror then you can (sometimes) already see your natural shade under your cheekbone and with the contour shade you're just going to enhance it a little bit more that's all! And if you want to change you face shape (an illusion) then you still don't need that much product!
