On A Rainy Afternoon

Today after many weeks, as I am writing this, with a beaming smile and overjoyed heart, it started to rain. Yesterday I was telling God, how much I missed the rain. And as I sit here typing its beginning to pour ever so boisterously making its presence fully known to this part of the nation that seemed to have forgotten its lovely voice.

The cacophony of the melodious, soothing incessant tapping on my roof, the smell of the earth being replenished and the happy birds delighting in a cool bath, chirping their delight. I can't help but feel immensely blessed. He did it all for me.

I've always loved the rain. Looking at it, hearing it, splashing in it, standing in the midst of even heavy showers and just allowing myself to be completely drenched, soaked to the bone. Feeling every drop on my face, feeling the slipping and sliding as they played on my skin. Completely immersed in one of nature's great feats. Blissful rainfall!

Listening closely as it comes to a light shower I can hear the pitter patter of the leaves, relishing in the soothing sounds of nature reminding us it is alive. I feel a complete sense of peace.

It reminds of verses that I read, that completely overwhelmed me.

Rainfall here can be seen as a gracious, glorious visitation of God. This is in keeping with the provisions of God’s covenant with Israel.

These words have some fulfillment every time the rains bring productivity to the earth.

Nature helps us understand God’s character. The Jews believed that God’s care of nature was a sign of His love and provision for them. Nature shows us God’s generosity - giving us more than we need or deserve. Understanding God’s generosity should make us grateful to God and generous to others.

God that made the earth hereby visits it, sends to it, gives proof of His care of it. It is a visit in mercy, which the inhabitants of the earth ought to return in praises. God that made the dry land, waters it, in order to see it fruitful. How beautiful that He would come visit with us and show us His generosity.

It is interesting to think that the fruitfulness of this lower part of creation, depends upon the influence of the upper. It reminds me the verse that speaks about every good and perfect gift is from above.

I stumbled upon the latin for this which I thought was worth noting.

As we lift our eyes upward to the heavens, we are reminded where the original springs of all blessings originate and there should our praises return. All God’s blessings great and small, we should be grateful for.

Beautiful words and smooth writing, they were so easy to read! I love the cool and cosy feeling that the rain brings the most, that less bright ambiance. Maybe that feeling is a direct connection to the blessing of God that which you mentioned!
