So I need to turn off my speakers now? Really, You can hack that?!?

Great, let me just go and buy Cassettes again and listen to them on my old Beatbox radio. I mean we are in the 21st century and I know that technology is moving on but come on, they can hack you through speakers?!?

It is actually one of the news I was reading about, that Israelis have figured out how to get your information from the computer through the speakers!

Let me just repeat that: Trough the speakers!!!

Yup.....it can be done, despite all antiviruses and all other "fancy" protective software.

Israeli experts from Ben-Gurion University have recently demonstrated that theft of data no longer requires a computer connected to the World Wide Web.
A new method of stealing data is called "air-gap", and it is quite different from hacking methods known to date. It actually exchanges data between two unconnected personal computers via speakers or headphones.

This method, with a deliberately malicious software code, actually allows the computer speakers to be converted to an eavesdropping device and a data transmission device, even if they are not connected to a microphone. with help of ultrasonic waves, Israeli experts managed to download or drop data from one computer to another within a range of one to nine meters. (Not big distance, I agree. but still, nine meters is not that little).

Although the Israeli experts for the attack had to create a special protocol, it turned out that the same attack could also be used to steal data from cell phones. IThey have already advised companies that deal with sensitive data to physically disconnect speakers and other audio equipment connected to the computer.

Israeli experts from Ben-Gurion University will represent the first results of this study already in the second half of this year.

I will be following this news and will post updates when the presentation will be announced.

So.... I do not know, maybe not cassettes, maybe I'll go back to listening vinyl records.

I am happy to help you with more answers. I will soon add some more posts. If you liked my post please upvote and follow. Thank you!

Ok, if you use simple digital mp player (not phone or computer), hackers will be able to take only records.
Despite the fact that vinyl is good - going to the Philharmonic much better!

We are at this point where the word privacy is no longer a thing, and as sad as this sounds we have to get used to it

I totally agree with you

very interesting this publication friend, I like

Thank you :)

continue like this, you are doing a good job

The price we pay for all this "smart" tech, is a lack of privacy.

Wow, I think that it's only a matter of time before all this leads to eventual 24/7 monitoring by governments and literally zero privacy. This is scary!
