...about the octopus
Up close look at the octopus I met in Patagonia. The octopus’ eye is complex, like any animal it’s their gateway for understanding the immediate environment.
But the octopus is an entirely soft bodied creature (except for one central hare beak. This leaves them physically vulnerable to predators.

Basically, instead of being brave and strong because he can defend himself, this critter uses his color-changing, texture variable skin cells to act brave and strong in an evolutionary bluff.
In this photo, I can tell he’s comfortable and not threatened by me because of his smooth skin, posture, and mellow demeanor, despite my close proximity. Thanks for trusting me, little guy.
