What it feel like to finally get a job

in #blog7 years ago

This is my first post (if you discount the one where I introduced myself), and I would like to share some things with you.

There was a period in my life where I was unemployed for a very long time and was looking for a job. I live in a rather small town which, let's be honest, is not the best when it comes to offering people opportunities. Nevertheless, this is a place where I spent almost an entire life of mine, and my goal was to find a way to live here. Plenty of people choose a different path and move to a bigger city or another country. Not me, though. Whether it is an attachment to the hometown or an overall dislike for places that are swarming with people, the motivation was always there to continue looking for something right here.

After sending numerous resumes, I finally got a call for an interview. The conversation with the interviewee was rather casual since I was going there with nothing to lose. I was honestly surprised that I got a call for a second interview. That one was more serious, as there were quite a few things to discuss.

Many employers ignored my resume and I had to ask what was the reason behind getting a call. The answer I got was this - there was a small thing, a trivial one if you ask me, that caught the eye of these people.

You probably guessed that I got the job. And I got my first pay today. The feeling is hard to describe. After countless hours of anxiety and self-doubt, I'm thriving and can't wait to see what the future has to offer. The chance that I got gives me more motivation to improve both as a person and an employee.

The point of my story is that you should never give up and continue to look for things that you want out of life. And for people that struggle to find a job, let me tell you this: I was in your shoes for more than a year and had plenty of moments when I thought that I should give up. But a part of me still wanted to go on, no matter how bad the situation was. Even in the bleakest moments, look deep inside yourself and hold tight to that one little wish of yours. After all, what is the point of living, if it's not for the dreams that we have?

I'm leaving you with this. Remember, good times would not exist were it not for darker times.
