Tips on how to paint your house correctly; Beautifying home.

Home, a place where we live. A place where we cherish our moments together with our family and loved ones. But did you know that the appearance of our house can affect our mood or aura? Yes, it's real! So let me share my ideas on how to paint your house in a correct way, from the preparation up to the painting process. So before we start, let me first introduce to you the different kinds of House Paints.

First, is the Latex Paint. This kind of paint must be applied only in the concrete surface. It has a primer or first coating paint which is called the Flat Latex. This paint is only mixed with water since latex paint is water based.

The second one is the Enamel Paint. Enamel is the paint for wood and metal. It's primer are Flat wall Enamel for wood and Metal Primer Red oxide or Metal Primer Red Lead for metal. It can be reduced with a Paint thinner.

Third, is the Solvent based paint. This is the all around paint because you can apply this in concrete, wood and also in metal. This is the kind of paint that really lasts long, up to 5 to 7 years before you can repaint. You can mix this with a reducer.

So now that you have met the kinds of house paints, we will proceed now to the steps or procedures in painting your house.

1. Know the kind of Paints that you should use.

Yes, how will you start painting if you don't know the right paint to use. Please refer to the kinds of house paints above for you to have more idea of what I'm talking about.

1. Provide the right and complete tools for painting.

You must have the right tools for painting, these includes:

a. Paint brushes - for painting the corners, or the part which the roller can't reach.
b. Paint roller - used for applying paints. These have many designs for you to choose.
c. Paint tray - where you will put your paint and roll the paint roller in it for full paint coverage.
d. Masking tape - this serves as the barrier if you have many colors to apply.
e. gloves - to avoid mess in hands.
f. apron - to avoid mess in the body or shirt.
g. news paper - to avoid mess in the floor.
h. mask or respirator - protection for your respiratory part.

1. In the unpainted walls, the first thing you do is to clean it with sandpaper. After, you can apply the primer. If your wall is concrete you can use the Flat latex paint, for wood you can use the Flat wall Enamel paint or if you wish to use the solvent based paint you can first apply the Primer White. You will apply this with a roller.

2. After applying the primer, the holes or cracks will appear. That's the time you can use the Concrete Putty for concrete walls, Enamel Glazing Putty for wood and Cast for the solvent based paints. These kind of paint covers the hole or cracks in the surface for smooth painting, you can use putty knife for applying putty. After the putty dries, use sandpaper to make the surface smoother.

3. Apply primer for the second time to cover the putty.

4. This is the most exciting part! Painting your walls with the desired colors. It's up to you if you want the low sheen or matte finished or the glossy one. Be sure that you will only apply the colored paint with only one direction with the use of roller. And also be sure that the combination of colors is matched.

So that's it! This is only the 6th procedures of painting you walls. Painting your house is more fun when you do it with your family, it will be your bonding. Home is very important for us especially with our family so it's not bad to put an effort in beautifying it.
