Everyone is selfish, just be a good one

Selfish or Selfless.jpg

If you look at the concept of selfishness and selflessness you can see that they are complete opposites, but just look at them twice and you may not see a huge difference between them.

Being selfish means that you lack any concern for the values of others, you act in a way that serves no one but you. However, helping others doesn’t always mean that we are selfless. Sometimes we serve others and expect them to do something in return or, even if we don’t like it and don’t wanna admit it, deep down we feel that they owe us and that makes us selfish too. Besides, sometimes we help others and show sympathy in order to feel the joy of helping and satisfaction. So we doubt the purity of selflessness everytime we are confronted with the impossibility of disproving egoism in our intentions and motivations. The choice of being “selfless” always serves us somehow.

Being selfish isn’t always immoral nor bad for our well-being, we don’t have to feel guilty about our self-interested behavior or try to change it. It’s so normal that we care about ourselves, we just have to make sure we don’t build our happiness on someone else’s sorrow. Moreover, it’s so nice to sacrifice for the ones we love even if we do it to feel good, who cares about our selfish intentions as long as that brings happiness to everyone. At last, it’s a win win.
