RE: Are me and steemit relevant to each other? Early concerns....

in #blog7 years ago

I can’t blame you for having those concerns. I think we’ve all been there.
I came here just because of crypto, but I haven’t been discussing crypto in months.crypto is only a part of this very diverse community.
During my first two weeks on the platform, I felt completely lost. There was so much to learn I didn’t know where to start first. I didn’t even know if I would be able to process it all.
Then, I bumped into a couple of great comunities - there are litterally hundreds here on SteemIt. It was the #newbieresteemday initiative that pulled me over the line, and made me decide to stay. I’m glad I did, because although there may be a lot of things that don’t really make sense on this platform, there’s one thinh that does, and that’s the community. Never in my entire life I met so many good hearted people who are willing to support eachother. I was (and I still am) surprised that it was actually possible to get to know so many people with so many different backgrounds, and become personally attached to them without even having met them. I’ve only been here for a couple of months, and I consider a lot of my fellow Steemians to be my friends, my familiy, my tribe...
I never really was a community-minded person before, but that has changed since I started to interact with people here.
Feel free to drop by at the #newbieresteemday initiative any time you like. We’re all just a bunch of misfits trying to help eachother and the little guys in any way we can, having a lot of fun. You can find us in Discord: https://discord.gg/h9WfHrE if you have questions, or just want to have a laugh or rant about something. There’s someone around most of the time.
I can honestly say that signing up for SteemIt (and staying) was one of the best decisions I made this last year. Not because of the money, but because I have learned so much, and met so many lovely, real people....

P.s.: the #newbieresteemday members’ first priority is to help newcomers to get a little attention. Most of us are only small users ourselves, but by supporting eachother and others all the way through, we can make it work. For example, some of our members organize a special newbieresteemday, during which posts by newcomers are being resteemed to get more exposure.
Actually, my fellow member @bashadow is running one today: https://steemit.com/justbecause/@bashadow/my-steemit-newbie-resteem-post-week-10

Commenting on posts that interest you is the first step towards building relationships. And in my experience, most people are very welcoming towards new members.

IMHO, it’s more than worth it to give it a shot. The first couple of weeks can be pretty confusing, because there are a lot of different aspects to SteemIt, but once you get the hang of it, and get to bump into the same people a couple of times, connections can be made, even friendships can be build - although this may sound strange from where you’re standing. In that way Steemit differs from any other social media/blogging platform.

Let’s make a deal: struggle your way through that first month (I think that’s what we all did) and let us meet up for an evaluation afterwards. I’m sure you’ll feel completely different then than you are now
Remember to join us on Discord - we’re there to answer every question you might have, and to support you to get through the hardest part, which is the beginning. You won’t regret it, I am 100% sure of that :0)

Ill be on discord by end of today and ill checkout the #newbieresteemday
Thankyou truly thankyou

Thank you @simplymike so much for an encouraging reply. Im not even at the end of first week although its close. I will be going onto discord as it seems better for initial connection rather than a small whisper on a steemit which weighted towards the successful or technically more skilled and experienced which any one of us can be in the long run...im gonna hang on in there....and the support here is overwhelming...
