RE: Are me and steemit relevant to each other? Early concerns....

in #blog7 years ago

Oh yes the money ..you said if it's only for crypto you could buy some...but steemit is not about buying money - it is about creating. You get a reward for investing time and the contribution of good content.
In the beginning the reward is very very little but if you grow, the reward grows also. So you lose nothing - except time.

Yes, but No. Sure you can try and do it without making a financial investment, but IMO the rate of growth is so slow most people will give up. Even adding 50SP (Steem Power) which today would be less then $100 US makes it so your vote is at least something. When you first start you aren't even giving out 1 cent votes. It takes a couple hundred votes from brand new people to even make $1 worth of upvote. That isn't me trying to be mean, but just honest. If you want to leave a comment hoping for an upvote it helps if your vote has value to the author. Some posts get hundreds of comments, those are probably not the ones to be focused on. Look for smaller authors that have a smaller following as you will stand out better there.

As for using bots, there are a couple minnow focused bots that give much higher vote value which are actually profitable. @earthnation-bot is one that comes to mind. Just make sure your post is quality. Find this type of bot and use them whenever you can at the start to boost your rewards and then use that to keep buying more and more votes. Just be careful to purchase profitable votes as many of the auction style bid bots are going to cost you more then you gain and should be avoided IMO. Try and find ones that directly upvote with a set rate based on your payment.

Thank you @thedarkhorse for commenting my comment! I totally understand what you are saying and i also agree with you. When you are focused to make some money and don't want to wait for years it is necessary to invest something. But if you don't care about the money and you just like the platform for bonding with like minded people, learning about new stuff,having good conversations and sharing some of your -whatever you are into- stuff, then you just can get on and do what i described, isn't it? ;)
Thank you also for pointing out to use profitable bots.

It seemed to me that @beestrong was was a little focused on the lack of response and profit from the intro post. To gain more exposure and profits when you first start it really helps to invest a little money into the system as your voice does get heard a little louder when you can reward those that take the time to comment on your posts. I have found that by upvoting those who comment on my posts with at least 5 cents and sometimes up to a full 100% vote which has been around 15 cents that people tend to come back more often.

I purchased 200 SP and the rest is earned, but I also purchased 100 Steem to play with. That is I pay for votes when I see ones that will be profitable, I've rented SP and then over the lease earn the Steem/SBD back, and even will trade Steem for SBD between here and bittrex to earn a small profit when they aren't trading at even values.

That investment allowed me to grow much faster and not be talking to myself. I do more then enough of that in real life...or at least I feel like I am as my kids seem to not hear me half the time...lol.

But yes you can do it the slow way and make some gains as you move along. There is nothing wrong with this if you have the time to invest and aren't worried about the monetary gains vs time invested. I just knew to keep my interest that there would need to be monetary gains or I wouldn't stay focused. Plus I have a plan for what this money can turn into long term and jump starting that was well worth dumping a few hundred dollars into.

You convinced me to invest a little something in my steempower ... so you get my first upvote with a little more value😉. And I think, as you say, that it really helps to be focused also on the money, otherwise you will probably give up quickly if you are not the born blogger. So thanks again for your invested time to comment!

See that 0.01 showing up vs 0.00 looks so much better!! It is a good time to invest in SP IMO, at least better then any point in 2018. Hopefully you see a good return long term.

I'm not a naturally blogger and find commenting on others content to be much more up my ally. But I blog a couple times per week to keep building my account. Side note I do upvote comments on my posts pretty much across the board as long as they are real comments...don't say "nice post". So if you follow me expect that I will reward your time with my votes. Heck a comment from @beestrong is how I ended up here. When I see smaller members leaving a comment I try to visit their blogs and leave a couple votes on their content to help boost them. Anyways hope to see you around and glad to see you put a little into your account!!!

Yeh - i love the 0.01 😃....i'm also not a natural blogger but maybe i become one. I came here for sharing my music but as i can't produce a song every day or every week i also comment more on other peoples content and i post some stuff in between. And no worries ..i would never just say 'nice post' or even commenting on things i'm not interestet in...that's totally against my nature. Sooo i'm glad we had this conversation ..was fruitful :) ...see you for sure around!

Hi @thedarkhorse,

I totally agree with you. I even invested 200 euro. 100 when SDB was around 5.5USD and another 100 when it was on 2.5USD ... why everything "crashes" when I invest in it? 😝
But I still think, it's a good idea - especially now.

By the way - @earthnation-bot just announced:

@everyone. Steemit has gone through some drastic changes recently. Of most significant note, every previously existing profitable upvote service is no longer distributing profitable upvotes.
This means it is not really worth most authors time to use steemit.
It also means the EN guild boosting system is no longer profitable. For those that wish to continue usage of EN Boosts for additional publicity, you are free to do so. All current boosts will be refunded. Resend the bid amount if you wish to carry through with a non-profitable boost for additional publicity.
Minimum up-vote guarantees for boosts are no longer valid. Expect a 220-240% up-vote that will result in a 5-20% loss.

At the moment @minnowbooster still gives 275% back but I'm pretty sure it will change soon also.

And now my curiosity comes up ... may I ask you how you found this post?
I'm asking because I could imagine that @beestrong might be interested. Not many steemians with a reputation like yours find, upvote and comment on posts of newcomers.

Happy steeming!

Lol...okay you guys
@pundito
@thedarkhorse
@psionic-tremors
I literally have no ideeeeeaaaa what anyone of you are talking about lol..😅😅😅
My head is spinning at all this information.
I am sure that in a few months as I continue using learning the basics, i will one day understand what you're all saying lol as i am sure some of it will help me in the longer term support others starting out.
In the meantime, im gonna trust the process and the people around me.
Its got me this far in my life and its a good life.
@thedarkhorse
Apparently you have abit of a rep here, which sadly i have no appreciation of whatsoever. But i really do appreciate your time and comments. Just so sorry i dont understand.
It has been really enjoyable just watching you all chat together and nice feeling knowing that my little post is creating something interesting.
I now have a list of about 20 subjects to read about and learn but if I focus on that im gonna miss the chance to connect and comment and that is where i am at right now....
Thanks so much

Don't worry @beestrong ...you will understand more and more after a while. Just learn how everything works at your own pace while you are commenting and connecting to people. 😃 If I did not have my boyfriend @pundito, i would have been lost at the beginning. And i'm still a bit confused but : learning by doing 🙃

Apparently you have abit of a rep here, which sadly i have no appreciation of whatsoever.

Don't think I have any rep yet, just a minnow working on growing my account with a little more experience then you have. I tend to research everything to death to fully understand what I'm doing.

If you have questions just ask. There are LOTS of people out there that are willing to help. Including many that are way more knowledgeable then myself.

And take your time. You are learning an entirely new platform so expect a learning curve.

I bought 200SP and 100 steem that I use for upvotes and SP rentals. Always allowing the balance of SBD/steem to get back to 100 each couple weeks to make sure I'm not loosing money on here. Really thinking of buying another 200SP with the lower price right now.

At 220-240% you might actually be profitable right now. Everyone uses 25% curation, but that isn't actually true. It would be if nobody including the author upvoted before the 30 minute mark. I have a number of people that autovote my posts around 25 minutes so part of the curation comes back to me, plus I upvote when I post which lowers the curation a little. Think that most posts give out around 18% to curation vs the 25% that is expected...and some of the larger accounts on here can get that down to 10% with their own large upvote at 0 minutes. Another advantage of having some voting weight.

Minnowbooster is a great service and one I would highly suggest using whenever possible for a new member. If you can guarantee a profit why wouldn't you pay for a bid?

Thanks for the explanation @thedarkhorse!
I believe your thoughts here are absolutely right.
Also, another investment will be perfectly timed right now.

I'm really looking for $1.50 US, not sure why but it feels like the right number to me and I tend to trust my gut. Been say that would be the bottom for a month now. If it hits the $1.50 it will probably be a 200 steem purchase so I can lock in the slider bar even without my SP rentals. Really think that steemit becomes much more enjoyable once you can vary your votes with the sliderbar.
