Thrive or Die development blog #5 - Extermination
The word "bug" means a lot of things in the English language, but it's almost always a bad thing.
Bugs can be a real nuisance, especially when they aren't seen out in the open, but their effects can be seen. This is a lot like how bugs are in computer code...

A bug in a game can be hidden deep within thousands of lines of code. It could be an entire line, or it could be something as stupid as having a colon where you really needed a semicolon. Sometimes, it's not even the code that's the problem. It could be an issue with a graphic file, or a sound byte that isn't labeled correctly...
I'm currently dealing with an issue where mobs (players, enemies, NPCs, etc.) are either disappearing or teleporting when they collide with certain objects on the map. I've figured out a few things that aren't causing it, but still have a hefty list of possibilities left to sort through. This is a major obstacle, as I don't feel comfortable adding in more content unless the infrastructure is sound.
Once I get this bug exterminated, I'll be polishing up what I have thus far, and conducting a closed demo run of the game. If you would like to participate in such a test, I will be holding a contest to find 5-10 steemians who would like to get an early feel for the game.
'ToD' will be an online, open world survival RPG with a hardcore attitude. Think Dark Souls meets Skyrim and Minecraft. It will incorporate a steem-based reward system in one shape or another, so players will have the opportunity to earn money for playing well. If you'd like to read more about it, and the first four dev blogs, check out the links below:
I'm currently looking for a pixel artist(s) to provide original graphics for the game, as well as a new logo! I'll be running new contests/steemgigs to find interested parties and raise funds for payment.
If you're feeling generous, please resteem this post so more steemians can hear about this plan to bring an interactive, online game to the steem blockchain!
to keep up on the latest developments!
