Best alien comic book

in #blog6 years ago (edited)

In the dreary autumn evening something suddenly burst out inside. It was the love to aliens. It woke up again based magnificent creation of Ridley Scott and James Cameron. Since then, the aliens universe has only expanded, began to appear films, books, comics, crossovers. I watched movies countless times. Reading books takes a lot of time, and my time is priceless (yes, from modesty I will not die :-) And my choice fell on comics.

Convenient lists can be found here http://avp.wikia.com/wiki/Aliens_(comics_line) (<- comics_line is link too) and here http://alienanthology.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_Aliens_comics Knowing firsthand about the inflamed fantasy of comic book authors, I decided to focus only on the main events that complement and expand the world of Aliens. at this moment i was frustrated. There is no one large-scale universe that unites several comic books. Perhaps because initially there was only a movie, and comics were complemented. If you are entangled in a chronology for some ridiculous accident, here's a cheat sheet for you http://www.digitalspy.com/movies/alien/feature/a844657/alien-timeline-chronology-prometheus/

In addition, I did not know in what order to read, because not always the chronology of the events described coincides with the chronology of the publication. There are no ready-made recipes. The chronology in which the comics go in the collections of Aliens Omnibus, is a good choice.

Realizing how large the volume of comics (6 omnibus volumes, and this without crossovers, 300+ pages each summoned laziness and oblivion), I decided to narrow the search by using the ratings. But there is no unified comic scoring system, like IMDB. I started looking and eventually settled on two resources:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/950807.Aliens?from_search=true
and
https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_nr_n_9?fst=as%3Aoff&rh=n%3A283155%2Cn%3A4366%2Ck%3Aaliens&keywords=aliens&ie=UTF8&qid=1511789498&rnid=1000

So, what to choose after all? Here's what I recommend:

Aliens: Book I, aka Aliens: Outbreak - a free fantasy on what might happen to the characters after the Aliens movie. The plot is interesting but confusing.

Aliens: Stronghold (1994) // Author: John Arkoudi - an interesting plot and 1 point above for Jeri :-)

Aliens: Sacrifice (1993) // Author: Peter Milligan - this special issue brings drama and painting to a whole new level

Aliens: Labyrinth (1993) // Author: Jim Woodring - blurs the line between science and nightmare. I think its one of the best comics on par with the first book.

Having read the comics, I began to compile the collected materials to article and happened upon information which helped to dot the i. In it you, perhaps, like me, will find the missing puzzles of the expanding universe of Aliens. I'm talking about Eggmorphing http://avp.wikia.com/wiki/Eggmorphing
