I was waiting to leave for an open house in Los Angeles the other day and getting impatient because my wife was taking too long to get ready and rather than follow my impulse to move her along faster I took a walk down the driveway and looked at the trees and the garden and assured myself that a few minutes won’t make a difference.
My wife came down the stairs ready to leave and we were stopped in our tracks by the screeching of tires and the loudest crash I have ever heard in my life. My wife and I quickly locked eyes with a looks on our faces that said something terrible has just happened.
There was a horrible crash on the side of my house and the direct route I was preparing to take and by taking that extra minute to leave, we possible averted impending death, but I was sad to find out that a very awesome person was not so lucky and neither were the 5 out of 6 dogs she had in the car with her on the way to the dog park.
We later learned it was a police chase gone terribly wrong and she was t-boned by a van traveling in speed in excess of 60mph. My wife and I feel terrible today. There is a 10 year old without her Mom and lives are changes forever.
This is not a public service announcement but it could be a good reason to stop, take a deep breath and think honestly about what really matters. If it can’t love you back, it’s meaningless. We as humans fight everyday to be heard and to be understood in an attempt in most cases to make positive change. We are only here on this planet for such a short time and it could end around the next corner we turn, and yet it’s so easy to forget and become complacent. It only takes a millisecond for everything to change and I feel if every person on this planet could take two seconds a day, maybe even a few times through out the day to remind themselves what REALLY matters in their lives, we might just begin to bring back compassion and start treating each other the way we want to be treated.
Can’t we at least try?

Man....this is extremely sad. Definitely don't know how long we have here and how precious this life is.

This is absolutely heartbreaking. I wish others would consider how many lives they put in danger when they’re so incredibly reckless with their own. :(

It’s sucks good people have to share the planet with people that don’t have any thoughts about anyone else :(
