Slumlords Are Fun

in #blog6 years ago

So a friend of mine rents an apartment from a landlord who lives far away. The landlord has hired people as caretakers. The idea of which is these folks are supposed to be around to take care of things. Supposed to.
Apparently the majority of my friend's apartment is on one breaker and the power has been out for two hours and counting. The breaker box is located in another apartment the residents of which are not home. So we sit here. Waiting. At the mercy of those with no skin in the game. Although I feel badly for my friend I am also thankful that this situation is not among the things I deal with regularly. I can however guarantee that if I was the landlord, none of my tenants would have to deal with such nonsense. Those landlords sure get mad when they have to wait for their money though don't they? To me it is like quid pro quo but they never see it that way. They also never seem to have learned the old adage about reaping what you sow.

Most seem like that want there money ASAP but not interested in fixing problems straight away.
