Simple and Affordable Altar setup

in #blog6 years ago

Tonight I write to you on this very quiet night accompanied by a Waxing Gibbous ( tonights moon)

Your alter should be a personal space. Sometimes hidden from people because what we do is private and sacred. Although it does not have to be, it can be a counter top space in your kitchen or a little space in a corner but should not be used in heavy traffic areas where kids can grab and touch for example.

This should be your a creative and personal space where you cast spells and charms, meditate, pray, utilize divination and connect on a mental, emotional spiritual and physical level. Lets begin with the tolls of the trade!!

Candles- should be a variety of colors to correspond with the various spells we will be doing. Also used for fire spells- MY FAVORITE but we will discuss on a ore advanced level. Right now I will keep it simple.

Bowl- With water and raw salt preferably melted snow or rain water. This represents and unites the water and Earth chi

Athame- A knife used in rituals but never meant to harm anyone and if you cant afford the real deal a simple steak knife from a dollar store will suffice.

Broom- Of course. We wouldn't live up to our name if we didn't have a broom. If you like hobbies you can craft one yourself and personalize it. yes its the sterotypical tool but used in cleansing and purifying our area.

Cauldron- Also used for fire spells which as I said we will divulge in later on. If you cant afford the "black iron pot" A simple fireproof or glass bowl will do fine.

Chalice- I recommend a silver one to represent the color of The Goddess and represents deity. Again if you cant afford one you can get a nice glass one from the ever so popular Dollar Store.

Incense- Again a nice variety will do nicely. In my opinion Sandalwood is the best but Myrrh and Frankincense are great choices. Pine and Cedar will also aid in purifying your space.

Pentacle- The 5 pointed Star pointing out to each element. Earth, Fire, Water, Air and yes the 5th one " The Spirit". More than 8000 years old the Pentacle represents bringing the idea of Spirit on Earth. This can be a tile or a cloth.

Wand- Again if you cant afford one just go outside. There are plenty of sticks to choose from in Nature. You can go to a park, your backyard just choose a piece that calls to you. This is a very personal item because we will use it for Divination and Protection spells.

I hope this was helpful and you enjoyed the read. I look forward to your comments and questions and also any suggestions on future posts you would like to see. Stay posted for more.........
