Breathing!

Finally getting some air for me. Woke up in the afternoon today and just finally had some time to myself to just do whatever I want to do. The stress is still lingering but it's not as bad anymore after taking time off to recuperate for the past two days.

Friday night at the office, my leads and I had a small internal chat to just see how everyone was doing. It did help a great deal to check up on how your teammates are doing from time to time because it helps releases the tension that's been accumulating for the past few weeks just grinding and no interaction. I always believed that human beings are social animals and part of our lives is how we interact and socialize with one another. Introverted or not, we all need to see someone's face once in a while.

So we were discussing how to minimize or not have our teammates burn the midnight oil. As schedules are still tight, we were discussing of possible ways to just ease the workload and work more effectively so that our friends don't have to stay until 12am every day. And boy believe me when I say we worked till 12 am daily, it was not for one day, two days but for a whole month. It definitely drained my team's morale and I could just see it in their faces. They were literally just sick of being in the office on a Sunday morning and only getting home at sundown.

It was never a pleasant feeling.

But amidst the busyness,

I managed to find my rest this week. I have so much of catching up to do with my own things. I even rejected a few meetups just cause I wanted to just cocoon myself in my room to recuperate. That's what INTJs do, having some me-time does help us start afresh and the weekend has been good to me. Not having to answer calls, or any goals or dreams to achieve was just what I needed at this point of time.

I hope to find better solutions for my team so they won't have to drain themselves out and though I know that the grind is good for the more junior ones, there ought to be better and more effective solutions for honing their skillsets.

To be honest, I'm actually proud of some of their improvements in their character and skillsets over the past few weeks as you see them grind together with you, you get to bond in certain ways much like in the military. All fighting to achieve something and you do it together, despite the pitfalls and emotional rants. That is what makes a team united, you pull through it together leaving no one behind and the satisfaction you get when you all see the results together saying 'WE did that TOGETHER'. I always believe that going to ground level with your members is really important and I always don't understand why bosses or leads have to stay up there all the time. I do understand the hierarchy of passing down leadership to the next lead and to the members but I'm the kind of guy who would want get hands-on in knowing my fellow comrades.

The good and the ugly

Cause how many bosses can actually say they know their employees at all.

That is where you truly know what they're facing, their perspective on things and how you can truly support them in the growth alongside with your other leads and people around. Knowing someone is never easy and it definitely takes the effort and time but It is something worth fighting for. At the end of the day, we are all social beings and like it or not, we all need that interaction.

Dig Deeper than you already have

Get your hands dirty with groundwork and you will taste the true sweetness of the fruits of your labor.

Because you will never know the process behind it if you dont walk that bridge together with those who plant it with you. You can only see results but that is what everyone else sees. Just results but the fact that you have an amazing team behind you must not go neglected. The team that's willing to fight for you, cover up your mistakes with results and to go just that extra mile so we all make it out on the other side.

The reward is not just the result you see at the end of achieving what you've set their minds to but it is the addition of the process, the late nights staying awake just to get that scene looking good, the grumbling, the emotions that come with the very strive to make sure the boat floats for you and I.

And that my friends is why I want to be someone out of the norm to lead this bunch of amazing individuals so that we all can be great.

Thank You

Oh, dear... I had no idea your team was under such stress and deadllines. I've also had to work 12–18 hour days, for weeks or sometimes months, too, and I know what a toll it can take. Here is hoping that you are able to find a solution and some relief soon!

Ohh my, zord has the same characteristics as me. Introversion, Intuition, Thinking , Judgment. Whenever we continue my research groups investigatory project its always a hustle to get all of us together. Critical thinking is very important, by constantly burning the midnight oil both the moral and physical condition of your team is slowly degrading.

I prescribed some Vitamin good jojo and a hefty dose of have a great time. Hmm, i can't seem to figure out wut is your team does based on the post, zord?

Hhahaahha, i thought when i read the headline, i thought to myself "ooooh what multi-vitamins could zord using?" turns out it was alot of will power.

LoL, i made this comment at (6:40am)-Philippine time, but the classes start at 7:30am. Welp gotta go bye!

Working so hard is really hard on a person, and on a team. And it's not sustainable over the long-haul. It's great that you are finding ways to rejuvenate and re-center amidst the madness. I am also working many hours and feeling the work is never done, and I'm really struggling some days to find that center! Fortunately I love my work, and have a lot of creativity. But even the best jobs result in burn-out if there isn't a break!

It sounds like you're really in touch with the fact that your team needs to be encouraged and to have the opportunity to breathe and relax. Good luck as you lead them to greatness!
