The Future of Religion = Future Religion
I just read the quote from Deepak Chopra in one of his books, Quantum Happiness, that in Hollywood which is probably one of the richest regions in the world, also has many spiritual teachers, they get a lot of students there. An interesting phenomenon because even though they have got their wishes, the people of Hollywood who are rich and famous are still feeling empty.
Or maybe this is a phenomenon that was predicted by John Naisbitt in the 2000 megatrend, which one of his famous slogans is: Spirituality yes, Organized Religion No.
Maybe this is the beginning of the destruction of religious institutions that are no longer able to keep up with the times, or just a temporary trend. As was predicted by Nostradamus (1503-1566) that one day the major religions that are now will be lost until the remaining one religion is the religion of Love.
In America the spiritual movement commonly called the new age appeared in the 70s, in response to the failure of Christian and secularism projects to present spiritual insights to its people. In the Christian church itself, it is still difficult to remove the extra ecclesiam nulla salus doctrine, No Salvation outside the Church, or there is no safety outside the Church. Even though at the Vatican II council in 1964 the Catholic church had abolished this doctrine and began to accept the truth that was outside the Catholic church, it remains difficult to erase this past memory.
Safety is not the main thing for new age adherents, they put forward enlightenment or enlightenment, where awareness arises that humans can be enlightened, purified, because humans are basically the image of God who has divine attributes (or the concept of nature to Islam).
Whatever happens later, the money circulating in the spiritual business in America during 2006 has reached 1 billion US dollars. How business this field is so more tempting in the future. because from time to time people always thirst for spiritual needs, if in the past religious institutions were "managing", now there are independent institutions outside of religion or even individuals who play.
How in Indonesia? Although not as lively as in western countries, but in Indonesia there have also been many trainings, seminars or mentions which are said to be able to increase our spiritual intelligence.
Whatever the form, such things are indeed like human needs Indonesia, which increasingly feels fragile, is powerless to face the changing times, even though it is abundantly abundant. Because of the fact that the people who attended the trainings were middle and upper middle class, both in terms of social status and economic status. Because to participate in the training must spend a lot of money, which is almost impossible to be followed by the lower classes, because for the affairs of the stomach is still not resolved.
