Book I recently read: Ken Follett "Fall of Giants"
Hi fellow Steemians,
I wanted to give a small review on a book I just ended and liked a lot:
It was released in 2010 and is the first part of the The Century Trilogy.
Part 2 Winter of the World was released in 2012 and part 3 Edge of Eternity in 2014.
It tells the story of 5 families in Europe and America at the time of World War I.
All of them with different problems and totally different lifes, 2 poor brothers from Russia who were always together get separated and one of them gets crabwise to America and gets rich and the other one gets to be a politician under Lenin.
A girl who works as an housemaid for an Earl in England gets pregnant, moves to London and starts to work for female suffrage. A rich woman falls in love with a German politician and have to hide their love. All of them experience the war in a different kind.
It is very well written and historical mostly correct. Only some things that famous people do or say did not acutally happen, but as to Follet "could have happened" that way.
I love the way he tells their storys, you feel like put in that time, as you are standing next to each charakter. He perfectly shows the class differences but at some point you can connect every main charakter someway to each other, either directly or through someone they "know". Most of them even meet each other.
Also the parts he tells about the war and how life was at that time are very detailed and it is great how each charakter grows.
I do not want to tell too much, in case you want to read it!
I can highly recomennd you to read it! Informative and captivating at the same time!

latitude))) betwenn ww1 and ww2 - there was many such reall history/// there was that Ukrainian fight for austro-hungary but another Ukrainian fight for russia , in evening they have met, singing song together and goung fight again////
good review... its not so long but you tell about all plot/ like such introducing)))
Thank you :) i tried to tell a lot to make it interesting but not to spoil everything so i thought less is more. Yes like the christmas night which is also told about in the book :)

I have not read this author yet - you opened it for me))) I'll have more free time - I'm looking, I read, and then I'll make my conclusions)) Thank you for the hint of a new choice.
