Presence, Body Language, Testosterone, & Power!
Amy Cuddy authored Presence, delivered the 2nd most watched TED talk, & Helped me!
Now it's time to share.
I just created a 4-minute video detailing what I believe to be the main points of this book, and that can be found here, in the comments section below (as well as other resources). Without having to dig into that, I'll now divulge a few gems here.
Amy Cuddy defines Presence as,
"The state of being able to comfortably express our true thoughts, feelings, values, & potential."
When we're Present, we're Powerful. Feeling Powerful is huge, it's effects range from our own self-conception all the way to intelligence and being able to initiate something new.
What does a Powerful person look like? Expansive. Both physically & verbally. A Powerful person expanding into space & time by allowing their body to open & by speaking slowly, with room for pauses. Just acting/speaking in this way makes us feel Powerful.
Power is also largely correlated to Testosterone. Put simply, Powerful people have higher levels of Testosterone & lower levels of Cortisol. If you want to know about 5 Foods That Will Raise Your Testosterone, check out a previous article of mine: https://steemit.com/health/@leothylion/how-to-naturally-raise-your-testosterone
The easiest thing you can do to raise your Testosterone & lower Cortisol, thereby increasing your sense of Personal Power, is 2 minutes of Power Posing!
Want to know what Power Posing is? I don't want to take away from the video too much, so continue down to get the link to it!
