Civilizational health.

People laughed at the bottled water craze, and now La croix style cans.

To me, they represent civilizational health.

The other primary drink options almost all contain either sugar, caffeine, or intoxicants. When I look at drink selections, I find it depressing how few are clean drug-free hydration.

And since I consider the proportion of clean drinking to be a significant measure of societal health I believe it’s massively better to overpay for water than to constantly ingest uppers, downers, and metabolic derangers.
