Ultraviolet and Near Infrared Photography - Boulders and Rocks at Graves MountainsteemCreated with Sketch.

in #bouldersunday6 years ago

I found many large stones with exotic patterns in them, though these stones were huge. A boulder like the one below is probably 500 pounds. And since power tools are not allowed good luck breaking that thing open. Some people will chisel parts off, but require special tools for these hard rocks.

These are my photos for #bouldersunday initiated by @shasta

Though there were many small rocks that you could easily crack open with a good hand tool. So most people stick to those, or dig into fresh dirt around Graves Mountain.

Very cool infrared boulders! They look so trippy, the
one on the left almost looks like it's floating!
Thank you so much for showing us these farout
big rocks for #bouldersunday@solominer!
What kinds of rocks are people hunting there?
Feel free to post your photo and link on the
current boulder post :-)

@shasta

Yeah they do have a trippy look, I see what you mean. Hah no problem, most people are looking for Rutile at Graves Mountain though thats very rare. So most find kyanite, lazulite or iridescent hematite.

OK added

infrared boulder sunday (#bouldersunday) takes it to a new level!

@snowyknight

Hah glad I can bring some new technology to the stoneage :-P

Great boulders for #bouldersunday! Such a perfect place to search for treasures!

@melinda010100

thank you I like your desert rocks too.

Yep, much to find out there.

Thanks! Have you done a lot of treasure hunting out west?

@melinda010100

I did alot of hiking in the mountains of California. But not much hunting or rockhounding. Got into rocks once I moved to Georgia more.

I wish I would have known more about rocks when I was out there!
