RE: 500+ SBD BOUNTY & POTENTIAL STEEMGIG - HELP ME IMPROVE STEEMIT

in #bounty7 years ago (edited)

I'm also not a developer, but if someone will pick this up, I can offer my help with testing. I'm QA engineer/software tester for over 10 years now. So a lot of experience on my shoulders and a huge willing to help in my heart :)

Hey I didn't have too much time to test it but could you let me know if you find any bugs on https://www.asksteem.com/userexplorer
also if you'd like you can also try a better tested:

@thekyle I'm currently at work, but I spent the las hour looking into https://www.asksteem.com/ Since there is no other place, for now, to leave you the feedback, I will do it here. Searching feature seems to work fine for me, but I have some thoughts to share:

  1. After searching, if you open any link in the current window, there are several errors in the dev console. I had no time to analyse them, but I think you should consider looking into them.
  2. I found the lack of pagination for the search results very annoying. You should really add this, it seems like a basic feature when working with several pages of search results. And yes, I know it can be set in the URL, but you should probably think more about "non-technical" users.
  3. There is a small design issue on the main page

  4. I cannot fully understand how autocomplete works. For some phrases, the autocomplete tries to suggest that it can be a tag etc., but for another (actually being a tag already) it is not. See the screens below. Is it on purpose? Or I'm just not clever enough to figure this out? :)

I'm sorry if I missed something, but like I said - I had only an hour to play with this tool. Never the less I hope that my thoughts will be helpful for you.

Now I have to do some work, but later today I will test https://www.asksteem.com/userexplorer for you.

Ok, @thekyle I was able to do some test for https://www.asksteem.com/userexplorer also, and basically all looks pretty good, but the points 1 and 2 from my previous comment apply also for this tool. Also, one question came into my mind - should search results contain the resteemed posts if the tag is a match?

Hey thanks for giving me feedback, I don't think there is any way for me to include resteemed posts as that is not part of the blockchain and only steemit feature. For your points #1 and #2:

#1. Could you give me more details about this, I tried looking at some pages on AskSteem and didn't find any errors in the JS console, I did find errors on Steemit after clicking the link but those appear regardless of being directed there by AskSteem.

#2. The bottom of search results pages do contain buttons for moving the next and previous page which should be enough for non-technical users to move between pages, I really don't see it as likely that someone would need to jump from for example page 1 to page 5:

Anyway, thanks for your feedback, I'll continue improving AskSteem, and look into some of the things you mentioned.

#1. Just search something using your tool, open the console in the browser and click any link from results - you should see several errors in the console.

#2. I disagree here - I think it is very likely that someone would need to jump between the pages. I base this opinion on my experience with users :)

No problem - if you will need help in the future, you know where to find me :)

Alright, well thanks for your help, really appreciate it. :)

My pleasure :)

No problem, will do :)

Nailed it!!!
