NYC Mild Start Today Before Showers Move Through
NYC Mild Start Today Before Showers Move Through
Good morning everyone. We have a little bit of a nice surprise this morning with clouds delayed ahead of our next system. This will help boost us into the mild realm before precipitation heads in by afternoon. Our week remains fairly quiet until our next batch of rain heads in on Friday, but there won't be any surprises Friday night into Saturday with a big snowstorm; it's just not in the cards for us this season.

Expect morning sunshine, then increasing clouds. Showers will head in by mid to late afternoon, and that sunshine will help boost us to near 60 in spots. Due to the SSW flow, it'll be cooler at the immediate shore. For us to see mild to warm temps all the way to the beaches this time of year, you need a gentle WNW wind.
Showers are long gone by tomorrow, and sunshine will return as well as the wind. Look for a breezy day and highs in the low to mid 50's.
Low to mid 50's and sunshine continue for Thursday, and the winds will decrease as well.
Friday is looking like a not-so-nice day, with increasing clouds and showers by late morning. Raw and breezy conditions will ensue, and highs will be in the mid to upper 40's. Cold air heads in overnight, but I don't think the precipitation holds on long enough to make any impact. Look for a few wet flakes possibly mixed in as everything departs, but most of us will be sleeping.
The sun returns on Saturday, and we'll have a breezy day with highs in the near 50 range. For Sunday, 50's remain, but milder air is on the move for possibly a beautiful start to next week.
Overall, our pattern is typical early spring-like, with systems becoming more vigorous (maybe not for us) as the clash in air masses become more prominent. The risk of severe weather is increasing in the lower Midwest and Gulf states, and the maritime air will try and fight back with every mild push we get up here.
Just like a Met fan, the snow lovers will have to say, "maybe next year".
Please note that with regards to any tropical storms or hurricanes, should a storm be threatening, please consult your local National Weather Service office or your local government officials about what action you should be taking to protect life and property.
