On Thursday, May 5, an unnamed owner of an apartment in the city of Braga (Portugal) sold it for cryptocurrency without conversion to fiat. This was announced by the company Zome, which accompanied the transaction.

"This transaction represents a historic milestone, the transfer of a digital asset into a physical asset — a house — without any conversion into euros," the statement said.

According to Idealista, the house cost the buyer 3 BTC ($108,335 at the time of writing). The publication recalled that in April, owners and real estate agents were allowed to make transactions using digital assets. Before that, the buyer had to convert them to fiat.

In February 2022, a family from the Netherlands, who invested all their funds in bitcoin, explained their move to Portugal by the loyal attitude of the authorities to cryptocurrencies.

However, according to a survey by the National Council of Financial Supervisors of the country, cryptocurrencies turned out to be the least popular financial instrument among respondents.

Recall that in May 2021, Arte Surfside boutique condominium opened the sale of apartments in Miami for Bitcoin and Ethereum.

In the spring of 2022, one of the largest developers of luxury real estate in Dubai — DAMAC Properties — announced that it would allow clients to use BTC and ETH as a means of payment.
