Let's talk about the BTC forkening

in #btc7 years ago (edited)

With all the attention on the BTC fork happening soon, what does this mean for ETH? I have seen all sorts of theories, that we need a thread for facts....

Firstly will exchanges all be shutting down just for BTC? Or will we not have access to our ETH during this time period as well? I ask because I accidentally deleted my email from Coinbase concerning the matter, and the articles I'm reading are saying exchanges will be down (but don't specify if just for BTC).

Is it unclear whether BTC will be doing a hard fork or soft fork? I seem to be finding different answers on different articles. This one seems to be the most unbiased I have found so far.
