Malicious software to steal "Betquin" hits thousands of sites
Hackers has been able to penetrate one of the largest Web Analytics platforms and services to get Bitquin users from the Gate.io exchange platform.
AIT NEWS quoted the security researcher Matthew Fow, who discovered the hack, hackers inserted malicious instructions into the Java files of the StatCounter platform, to steal any transactions in the virtual currency via the web interface of the Gate.io exchange platform.
StatCounter is similar to Google Analytics, allowing analysis of Internet traffic across sites.
The attack has spread malicious software to more than 688,000 Web sites, redirecting Bitquin from digital encrypted currency traders, especially when using the Gate.io platform, to withdraw or transfer their own currency.
Malware software has also replaced any keystroke URL that is entered on the page with a hacker-controlled control.
Matthew said it was difficult to determine how many people were affected by the attack, or how much money the hackers could get through the process.
