I have also been getting this message today. I noticed if my page has not fully reloaded i get this message, also if i wait a few seconds after the message upvoting works.
My internet connection is good, but my computer hasn't been restarted in many days so i figured it could be that, but now i tried on 3 different computers and it showed up on all of them (my friend reported the same). But at least waiting for a few minutes as @bola says works.
I had some issues today with comments and birds not working for a while. Seemed to clear up after a while

Yeah I've had the same message a few times today, but my net's been playing up for days so I assumed it was my end .. Strange

Me too, not able to post or vote, was just about to ask about it myself.
Just wait on the page for a few minutes, it seems to work :)
