"SLC21/WK4: Mockups in Design and Application"

In the creative world, there's a magic switch that helps designers transform their ideas into a real-world glimpse. This tool is called "MockUp" and is one invaluable assets that gives designers to have a peek into the future of their creation. The mockup are like the crystal ball in the world of design. Imagine been able to see your design even before it's finished, to witness it on phone screens, t-shirt and billboards.

With an interesting and educative theme brought to us by @lhorgic for week four of the challenge; "SLC21/WK4: Mockups in Design and Application", here is my participation.

Having gone through the main contest publication, there were only three types of mockup that were mentioned by the author. These mockups were;

• Print MockUp: This is used to visualise how your print materials would look like in real life.
• Branding Mockup: This is used for basically the purpose of awareness.
• Device mockup: This is using the screen of mobile phones, laptops or even wristwatch to capture your product or design.

Now we shall extensively discuss about other types of mockups that were not mentioned above.

• Packaging Mockup: A packaging mockup is a visual representation of a product's packaging design. It is used to visualise how your product packaging will look like in real-life settings. It's a very valuable tool for manufacturers, designers and marketers to refine and evaluate packaging designs best fit before production.

It is will help the manufacturers or designers to create functional packaging designs that will meet the requirements of the customers. There are some types of packaging mockups that may will suit personal preferences,; 3D packaging mockup, Die-cut mockups, 2D packaging mockup, foldable mockups and label mockup. Packaging mockup is applicable to the labels, packaging, bottles and can of food and beverage, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, retail and E-commerce.

• Social Media Mockup: A social media Mockup is also a visual representation of how a design will look like on various Socail media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube. It can be a very essential way for the marketers and designers to showcase their social media content, products and presence. Social media Mockup is a good and effective tool that will help in engaging the audience and build a good brand recognition.

The types of social media Mockup that can suit the design preference includes; profile mockup, post mockup, story mockup, feed mockup and Ad mockup. It benefits are amazing, which includes good visualization if contents, client approval, time-saving, test and refine and consistency.

• Product MockUp: A product Mockup is visual imagery of a product, displaying it features, functionality and design in a more interactive and life-like way. It's a key step in the development process of the product, helping developers, stakeholders and designers to envision and clarify the products before launch. Most likely, product mockup will help to achieve the aim of making a user-friendly product, innovative and creative enough to serve the need of the consumers.

There are different or classification of products mockups;
Digital product mockup: Mobile apps, web applications and digital products.
Physical products mockup: consumer goods, industrial products and electronics.
Hybrid product mockup: Combining physical and digital elements such as smart home devices etc.
The major benefits of a product mockup is the reduction in cost, improved user experience to enhance usability, increased efficiency, better communication and competitive advantage showcasing innovative products and features

• Digital Mockup: Digital Mockup as the name implies, is the virtual representation of a design, interface or product, created using digital software and tools. It's a critical steo in the design process, allowing developers to view and test the product before general and proper launch in real life. A digital Mockup is applicable to web design, mobile app design, software development and gaming. The digital Mockup may have some similarities with the "device mockup", but they're two different things. Device Mockup are realistic representation of a physical device e.g smartphone, laptop etc and is often used for marketing, demonstration and client presentation. While Digital Mockup is a virtual representation of a design or product, created using digital tools and used for web, mobile, software and gaming design.

Some types of digital Mockups includes,; wireframe Mockups, prototype Mockups, high-fidelity mockups, interactive Mockups and 3D mockups. These mockups are aimed at creating an effective, visually enticing and user-friendly digital products.

Here are the importance of mockups in promotion of a band of product;

• Professionalism: High quality Mockups convert professionalism, building a solid foundation of trust between the potential customers and the designers/owner. The professionalism of a Mockup will demonstrate good attention to detail, commitment to quality and expertise in development or design that attracts consumers.
• Emotional Connection: This may sound odd, but a good Mockup design can help to create an emotional connection with the consumers or customers. This will in a way help them to imagine using the particular product, feel confident in their purchasing decision and build an affinity for the brand easily.

• Differentiation: In every industry or sector there are competitors. A unique and excellent mockup will differentiate the brand from other competitors making it to stand out in the crowd, building a brand recognition with ease, building brand loyalty and also making it more memorable.
• Marketing materials: Mockup are essential and crucial for creating effective marketing materials such as social media posts, brochures, flyers, website images and email marketing campaigns.
• Feedback and Iteration: Mockup encourages feedback and iteration, which ensures that the final product is able to need the demands and needs of the customers. This is achieved by gathering feedbacks from stakeholders, refining the design and identifying design flaws.

• Cost-effective: Mockup is an effective way to test and refine products, saving time and reducung expenses in various areas such as; **Reduced prototyping costs because physical prototypes can be expensive especially for complex products, Reduced design revision, improved resources allocation focusing on the most promising designs, lower the testing costs and waste reduction.
• Increased conversion: Mockup contributes to increased conversions by showcasing the product value highlighting the key features and benefits, building trust establishing credibility, encouraging exploration, reducing friction diminishing purchase concerns and enhancing user experience for optimised usability.
• Product demonstration: Interactive Mockup display product functionality, simplify complex product explanations, establishment of trust in the quality of the product and improved customer involvement.

First of all, last week I couldn't participate in the contest so I have to create a new logo and flyer for myself today in respect to this segment of the home task.

I opened the canva app and got started. Here are the procedures. On creating this logo,I went back to last week lesson and I chose to create a combination logo which is the combination of a symbol and the name of the brand

• I clicked on the + button to open a fresh page to start my logo design and chose the text option to write the name of the brand..

• After writing the name of the brand which is Fly 🕊️ breed. A Fashion brand, I added a fashion symbol in form of a hanger from the elements tab.

• After arranging the brand's name and the symbol to look great, I changed the font of the name making it more stylish and bold with a thick black colour. And finally my logo was ready.

Without much time to waste, let's get down to the first task of this segment

Search for a good t.shirt mockup and then promote your brand by putting in your logo.

Here we go again.
First, since my canva app is still running I just have to start a new project and get things done.
On the new project page, I clicked on the the apps tab and searched for mockup

I chose the specific mockup design needed for the task which was a t-shirt. I selected the design and imported my brand's logo on it.

Search for an outdoor advertisement means like "billboard mockup" where you can put in your flyer design or banner for promotion.

A repetition of the step above. Opened the app tabs searched for Mockup up and chose the suitable Mockup design to use.

Next was importing the flyer for advertisement to be placed on the Mockup design. Placed the flyer and the work is done.

Lastly, pick any befitting mock up of your choice to promote steemit as a brand by using the steemit logo.

I choose the mockup design of a pillow with a man sitting beside it.

Next I imported the Steemit logo I had from the web. I also had to removed the background of the logo so that it can have a good view on the mockup design using remove.bg
