Celebrating Bee Day - 20 May 2024

Happy Bee Day !

To Celebrate Bee Day today I went on my usual nature walk and stayed away from a very busy bee trying to enjoy some lovely flowers. My photo was therefore rather blurred, but you can also call it ‘artistic’. Have a look below :

You may just be able to spot the bee flying around that beautiful flower called Aquilegia ( I may write about this plant another time). I then managed to take a clearer photo of some other flowers. I show you one below :

The other day I managed to help a honey bee in distress. It was caught in some cobweb ( I know I need to clean more often ) in the house and it just looked as if it could do with some energy boost. I remembered my post from a few weeks back here. Although I knew the limitations of feeding honey to the bee, that was the fastest and safest course of action.

I put some organic honey on a toothpick and presented it to the bee; it immediately started to lap it up (so to speak). When it had had quite a bit I imagined (I’m not so sure how much they should have), I placed the bee on a piece of card toothpick and all (it was a hard process that took a lot of care). I carefully walked outside carrying the piece of card with the toothpick and the honey bee and tried to find a suitable location for it to recover. I showed the bee some dandelions but it didn’t seem to fancy them. I then put the piece of card with the toothpick and the honey bee still going for the honey on a piece of wood away from ‘predators’. About an hour later I went outside again and the bee was no longer there. Once again I choose to believe that with the TLC (Tender Loving Care) and the honey it managed to recharge its energy and flew away to meet its friends. So how else can we celebrate Bee Day ?

I guess that as always it's not just on one day but it's a way of life.
