Agriculture plays a significant social and industrial role.
- Social roles include food security used for providing staple crops such as rice which ensures national sovereignty of food.Second social roles is employment which is used for generating livelihoods for a lot of farmers, labors and communities.At third cultural significance is playing a significant role so rice cultivation is strongly rooted in tradition.
- In industrial roles economic growth is important used for contributing to GDP by exporting rice.Secondly for supplying raw materials like rice is using in different industries like in processing of food.At third for development of infrastructure is important which facilitates roads of rural areas and irrigation systems.
Rice is a major agricultural product of Pakistan which has contributed to reduction in poverty and development of rural areas in many countries in a significant way.
• For reducing poverty employment opportunities are increasing when cultivation of rice gives bread and butter to billions of people.As well as selling rice also increase purchase power of farmers.
• For development of rural areas growth of infrastructure is important which includes improvement in irrigation system and roads.Through Rice value chain rural communities may get benefit.Through this crop in rural areas access to education and health services may also be improved.
Top crops such as rice is facing diverse economic challenges;
• Fluctuations in overall prices can be impactful at farmer income.
• Increasing temperatures, infertile land and floods can affect yields.
• Less sufficient irrigation may affect quality of crops and quantity of crops.
• Outbreak may lead to a lot of losses.
• Cheapest imports and oversupply reduction demand at world level.
• Less efficient supply chains may increase costs.
• Trading regularities, subsidies and tariffs are really important for giving profit.
There are multiple government initiatives which is have boosted production of agriculture;
Current Initiatives:
• Protection of farmers from crop reduction.
• Improvement in fertility of soil and production of crops.
• Providing support to farmers financially.
• Online opportunity for farmers for selling their production.
Past Initiatives:
• In past green revolution was introduced which were high yield varieties and irrigation.
In past National agricultural policy was focused on sustainable agriculture.
For enhancement of agriculture productivity and growth there are different solutions that we can keep in our mind;
• There is a need of efficient irrigation system and management of water.
• There is a need to do a thorough research and development of crops that are resistant to disease.
• There is a need of integrating technology like drones, sensors etc.
• Sustainable practice such as organic farming, crop rotation etc.
• Training of farmer in capacity building, extension service and sharing of information.
• Management if risks involved and financial safety.
• Approach to equipment and tools which can be afford.

Sustainable farming requires efficient irrigation and water management. Farmers can save time and money by researching disease-resistant crops. These methods have the potential to increase agricultural productivity and growth significantly. Excellent article.
