What I Learned About Success In The Last 3 Years
How I effortlessly went from a broke student to an abundance of money and mindset.
How I decided to write this ?
If you are a talentless person, like me, you would like to know how I got where I am right now and I still haven't graduated yet (my 3rd year just began).
Why should I trust you George ?
Two years ago I enrolled in university for a Computer Science Degree. I was basically broke with no skills and a long road ahead of me. Prior to joining university, my mindset was already being shaped by all the books I was reading.
Fast forward to now, I am 21 years old, I work as a Blockchain/Software Engineer at a big company and I get paid pretty good salary. I have the correct mindset and the burning desire to achieve even more and I am ready to make my first Big Investment.
How did I get here ?
Two years is not a long period. At the same time it is enough for you to prosper and change your world. Simply reading couple of books and developing some skills might play a crucial role in the development of your mindset and career.
The answer is always simple... Time and Dedication. What is hard is the commitment and the sacrifices you have to make along the way. ~ George
You will have to make sacrifices, whether that is your money, your social life or your time, nothing will be given to you without anything in return.
If you are ready to put in the work, keep reading and you will learn what helped me to ultimately skyrocket my career.
Before you start reading this article, you should know who is this article written for.
Who is this article for ?
This article is for you if you want to excel at any given thing without needing to rely on anything but yourself, your dedication and your burning desire to achieve.
It is for those who are not merely satisfied by mediocrity and want to contribute to society.
Who is this not for ?
This article is not for you if you think that achieving is easy and won't be costly at all. People who say - "Well, duh, everyone who is smart enough can do it... It is easy."
If you are unwilling to put the work and sacrifice something in order to gain.
If you just want to remain mediocre.
5 Incredible Principles To Skyrocket Your Career
1. Focus, Focus, Focus
Before we talk about anything else, focusing is the most important thing. It is integral that you understand the context here. I am not talking about focusing during the day on your work. I am talking about long term focus on your goals and your milestone plan.
Why is this so important ?
Because sometimes, people find it hard to commit to something.
There is nothing much to say here otherwise than Focus, focus and focus on your goals. They should be always on your mind to the point where you are obsessed with them (If you don't want to leave nothing to chance)
2. Develop Habbits
I know, you have heard this so many times that you don't want to hear it again. But, do you know why people keep repeating this over and over ?
Because no one does it.
Being able to develop certain habbits is one of the fastest way to get your hands on a one way ticket to success.
3. Always do more than you are asked for
I have seen a lot of bright A students being restricted by the work they are tasked with. Whether it is in school or at work. The matter of fact is, you don't want to restrict your creativity and desire to provide value. Alway strive for producing more than expected.
Sometimes, it is better to set smaller goals only for you to be able to overachieve. At some point, for me, overdelivering became more of a principle than actual value for someone else. Following this overdelivering principle positions you in such a way that is easy to get into the correct mindset. You have to work harder and harder, overdeliver and always look at the bigger picture even when it is hard.
4. Change Prespective
Whenever i am approaching something new I try to look at it from different prespectives/angles. Whatever problems you solve, whatever you learn, whatever you have to face and go trough, let it shape you and change your prespective.
Couple of years ago, I started reading these books about self-improvement, about financial freedom and investing. The thing is, reading all those books wasn't that beneficial to my knowledge of investing, success and financial freedom. At the same time, it helped me see what actually counts when we talk about these subjects. It ultimately shaped me.
5. Read, read and read again
I cannot stress enough how important reading is. This is why whenever a successful person is asked "What do you do most of your day?" the usual answer is - "I read". For the last 2 years I have read over 80 books and I have developed a habbit where I either read for 1-2 hours every day or I listen to an audiobook for approximately the same amount of time.
I wake up early in the morning, usually 6 A.M and I read blogs, news sources, books and everything useful I can get my hands on for hours before work. And I also do the same thing after work.
What happens when you lose sight of the Big Picture ?
It is easy to get lost on your way to achieving the goals that you have set for yourself. I wish I had better answer for you, but i don't.
I myself tend to get lost sometimes... ultimately, you need to find your way back and focus on going forward. One thing that helps me is taking short breaks - a day, a week or maybe even a month.
One of my favourite stories...
There was a young man who wanted to make a lot of money, and so he went to a guru....
He told the guru, “I wanna be on the same level that you’re on.”
And so the guru said, “If you wanna be on the same level that I’m on, I’ll meet you tomorrow at the beach” . The man thought, The beach. I said I wanna make money, I don’t wanna swim. But the young man got there, all ready to rock and roll.
He came, and the guru dropped his head in the water. He Held him down, and was holding him under. The man was scratching, clawing, fighting to get up. The guru kept him down under water. And just before the young man was about to pass out the guru raised him up.
The Guru said, “I got a question for you. When you were under water, what was the only thing you wanted to do? More than anything?”
He said, “I wanted to breathe.”
Conclusion
Getting to the point where you are successful in life is not an easy task. A lot of hard work and dedication is required. Either way, if you are willing to follow these steps, you should be packed and ready to undergo this magnificent journey.
I encourage you, think of a book you always wanted to read. Pick it up on Amazon in audio or hardcover and read trough it in a week or couple of days. Repeat couple of more times and learning every day should already be a second nature to you.
