No shortcuts to purple cows or how a podcast made me cry
I am not a big fan of podcasts.
To be fair, I just discovered this “phenomena”.I just like laying around sometimes with my eyes closed and listening to stuff, usually mind-bending stuff that don’t challenge my eyes.
I actively started to search for high-quality podcasts after I developed an allergy to a cream and my eyes were red, swollen and itchy.
With my eyes red, swollen and itchy, I had to find a way to entertain myself and since I’m that annoying type of gal who is obsessed about time well spent, it better be some useful podcast!
Is your brand good enough to name my cat after you?
First of all, I want to share with you another story.
The cousin of my boyfriend has a cat.The cat’s name is Zara, after the clothing company.
You see, some people like some brand so much that they name their pets after it.
Behind all the marketing tactics, all the glitter and gold if you don’t find a way to leave a footprint you are gone, poof.
And to my friends who still believe that starting a business online is easy peasy and you just need to read dis’ and dat and you buy this course and you go to sleep while listening to Bryan Tracy.
Oh boy, do I feel bad for you.
But I digress, back to the podcast.
This idea behind the podcast is to bring people together, to fix broken connections and and bring the big F word together, which by the way is “forgiveness”.
Which reminds of…
Time well spend on creating something absolutely dazzling
I’m young and chances are, you are young as well or at least young-ish.
Unless you are a very disciplined, organized human being (lucky you!) you probably want sometimes to rush things.
We want everything and we want it now!
As I started listening to this podcast I realized that somebody probably re-wrote that script 20 times to make it sound like a real recorded conversation between a son and his father.
That the actors were probably rehearsing for that episode for weeks and you know what? They had no guarantee.
I don’t even know if they made any money in the first month.
But they worked so hard, they worked as if they were being paid $200 per hour to create a realistic depiction of how different perspectives and lack of communication can destroy relationships between silbings.
And how decades can past by till some of us (with a push) have the guts to speak with someone that always made them feel uncomfortable.
I cried, it was so beautiful.
A story about blindness, forgiveness and two brothers who have their own way of loving each other.
The temptation fast implementation and promotion
I don’t know that much about how a company develops an application or what they talk about with their investors at lunch.
I really don’t know how some business owners can prevent themselves from going nuts in the Sillicon Valley or after a conversation with their parents about their business (wait, I know about this one!).
Jane, you should have been a teacher!
But I do know that many business owners, especially solopreneurs have these wild expectations about the time frame in which their websites and content should go BOOM!
And they are VIRAL!
How many times have I heard, hmmm, I will buy two blog posts and if I see some results, I’l buy more!
Bullshit, it took me months to rank high on Google with one blog post, the system is sorta slow and we have to accept this!
Not to mention some business owners want thousands of visitors per day, this involves guest posting, writing ads or maybe contacting influencers to promote their content.
This takes strategic moves and planning, and guess what?
Time.
Nobody has time, but if you want to start a business, you should!
Especially for solopreneurs who are usually the most fragile in the sea of entrepeneurs.
Most of them are on a hope and an Etsy store.
They need guidance and often times my role as a writer is transitioning to advisers, maybe we should do this and that, maybe you should invest in here and in there.
This may seem like a simple idea, put time and effort in it to make it good, but so many are so hasty, underestimating their prospects.
Big warning sign
Don’t believe me!
Look for yourself, they are so many stories about entrepeneurs who moved too fast without thinking about all the pieces of the puzzle.
They didn’t had enough money or enough knowledge of the industry to thrive.
And don’t be fooled by “specialists” on Fivver, if they were to know how to sell your products they wouldn’t ask $20.
