How to make more money by fucking around the right way.
Got a business idea? Want to make money? Or maybe you're just sick and tired of wasting money on shit that doesn't work? Then heed my advice and slow the fuck down.
Sure, money loves speed. But that's no excuse to go full Leroy Jenkins with your business.
I'm planning the launch of one of my businesses and have blocked my entire time for the next two weeks to doing research. No marketing. No funnel building. No product creation.
Research. Also known as fucking around.
Fucking around facebook groups and forums.
Fucking around with books and magazines.
Fucking around reading boring white papers.
And probably watching lots of cartoons while doing it.
Because that's the foundation of your business. Getting into the mind of your customers. Understanding their needs, their lifestyle, their challenges. And then figuring out how that relates to your ideas and the solution you have.
Contrast this with this business I worked with last year who wanted to get their product to market ASAP.
Money loves speed, they said, so they wanted to jump in and get the marketing started ASAP.
There was no time to waste fucking around doing research. The idea was so good, they thought, that all we needed to do was open the faucet, get in people's face, and money would flow.
This went on for 4 months.
$20,000 later, with a small list of 140 customers, they decided to pull the plug, still scratching their heads.
Why didn't people buy? Why was none of the marketing working? Why couldn't they make it work, while all those phony competitors seemed to be making bank?
The answer is simple:
Those phony competitors spoke their market's languages. They knew their lives. They knew their struggles. They were safe in their customer's world and were seen as a reliable advisor.
Meanwhile, the other company was obsessed with its uniqueness and their assumptions. That doesn't work, they thought. We can't do that. This is what people want. And they just kept banging their heads against the walls until they ran out of steam and money.
So if you're thinking of launching a new business, or struggling to figure out why your sales or marketing aren't working for you.... slow down and fuck around some more.
