How to identify customer needs and meet them

in #business7 years ago

Without paying customers we do not have a business.

Without having something to offer that meets customer need they will not buy from us.

A very important skill to develop is how to regularly review, identify new customer needs and develop suitable strategies and offerings to meet those needs.

Developing this skill required significant effort time and persistence, but is well worth it in the end if mastered.

  • We begin by selecting a business category that we are already in or that interests us or that we think there could be potential business available.

  • Next we define all the needs we think that people could have in that sector and that they would pay money for.

  • Discuss these with others to get more ideas.

  • Then begin discussing this with your potential customers.

  • Use their feedback to refine your thoughts.

  • By beginning to test your ideas with customers early the less likely you are to waste time and money on the wrong ideas.

  • Remember it often takes many adjustments and refinements to find the right combinations.

  • If after a few trials and adjustments if customers are still not willing to buy then move on to another idea.

  • Don't continue to invest in an idea that does not have a strong chance of success.

  • Once you find customers that are willing to pay for your service that is a good start, but you must still continue to refine it

  • Study your competitors and research online and elsewhere.

  • Find industry sources and talk to experts.

  • Learn more about your business environment and consider risks.

  • You business will mature as it begins to be based on facts, knowledge and data.

I hate customers. I used to work with customers, but it was a one-sided pleasing contest for votes. I must have met with over 4000 of them in the year that I did the thing that I did. I am ABSOLUTELY SO DONE with anything customer-based in terms of profession. Who knows, maybe in a 100 years I'll start working with customers again? But for now, screw them. My work has no customers and I fucking love it. <3

What work are you talking about.?

Driving people from point A to point B in the most liberal, feminist and toxic places on Earth. I'm still traumatized by how dissociated it made me feel. I felt like less than a dog.

@sme. Great post. One area I often see inadequate focused is competitive Intelligence. We all at one time or another become too complacent, especially with great success, thus the need of periodic reflection on the points you detailed, especially competition.

Customers are the lifeblood of all businesses - whether they are SMEs or large enterprises. Missteps in managing customer relationships can lead to severe consequences. These missteps can include product innovation that is out of step with customer aspirations and poor customer service. A suitable customer relationship management (CRM) system can support this process.

You are right about customer because in a business customer is one of the the main goals to achieve and the important thing we have to get by whatever way we could. Without satisfying our customers we could gain nothing. Its a vital part of a business so satisfying them, gaining their trust, identifying and completing their needs is also very important. Great and important points about how to engage with our customers.

It all boils down to product/market fit and then how you execute on the customer service aspect of the business. People, genuine connections and empathy is what I found to be the quickest way to building an audience and therefore clients. 🙂

good information. A lot of people do not do the proper due diligence when starting a new venture or they have to much emotion into an idea and hang on to long even though its proving its not paying off. its hard to tell when its time to review your standings and let an idea go or put in more research and find out what your missing for your customer base

This is one of the many skills to impart in my small business investments. The customer getting fully satisfied with your product is what I've picked from this post. It would save me from putting more funding into marketing my products and in the long run make losses when my clients don't find it as there favourite

This is cool. Identifying customers need requires intensive market research ;your tips is really helpful by applying the marketing philosophy trategic concept.
