My Grassroots STEEM Business Effort: 1,085 STEEM Earned From 3 Sales In Just 4 Days + Shop Tiffany Sterling Silver, Ray-Ban, Beer Steins & More For CRYPTO - All Personally Salvaged!
This isn't a concept or plan. I'm starting to use Steem for my home business to start a new wave. Help me help you, the environment, and Steem (by us actually using it).
Let's summarize:
- I made sales of 515, 340, and 230 STEEM in the last 4 days of recycled Legos for 1,085 Steem.
(It took me over 2.5 years to earn ~6,000 SP from blogging and curation.)
- I powered up 902.53 Steem it to get to 7,000 SP.
- More high quality household items for sale that I salvaged for FREE.
- See how I easily remove tarnish from a salvaged Sterling Silver Tiffany's pen and an antique Sterling Silver thimble from Mexico. The before & after is cool.
-Bonus mystery find to test your eye.
First, a big thanks to @brickmanbrad and @carlgnash for breaking the ice and sacrificing themselves to the "Bitcoin for pizza" meme Gods. They get the big picture here and are no legends in my book. I take their trust and business very seriously and they got white glove service. You will too.
They bought roughly 14.5 pounds of recycled stuff. Awesome!
More stuff for Steem or other crypto: Price in USD for US residents includes shipping. International shipping can be quoted and negotiated. Just starting here to test the waters.
Tortoise Brown Ray-Ban Sunglasses, Model RB2180 710/73, Size "49-21-145" = $45
Condition is 9.5/10. I only noticed one tiny scratch on the front frame on the left eye's side. Super clean. Lenses are excellent. Appear to be an adult small to medium. See this website for sizing.
Maybe @coruscate could use these on her next crypto resort trip.
Vintage Stamped Tiffany & Co T-Clip Retractable .925 Sterling Silver Ballpoint Pen = $70
Has the original ink cart inside, but it needs a refill. Top clip is the shape of a T for a nice touch. Pen twists to open and close. Normal vintage signs of use, but in great shape overall with original box/pouch.
For "continual writer," @tarazkp?
Antique Ornate Mexican Iguala .925 Sterling Silver Sewing Thimble = $27
One name belongs here and it's @soyrosa!!!
German Rein Zinn Pewter-lidded beer steins = $40
The crazing design on the blue one is intentional. One lid is slightly imperfect from a dent I rounded back. The other is great. Super clean.
The @meesterboom and @detlev special!
Dooney & Bourke Dark Brown Small Crossbody Purse Bag = $28
Barely used. Immaculately clean. Only some very slight rub wear on the edge trim piping.
@justineh, is there a better way to carry your flask at the rodeo? Does not attract horse or goat hair.
Apple TV 3rd Gen. 8GB HD Media Streamer A1469 - Factory Reset = $35
There are some decent scuffs on the back side, but they're cosmetic and won't be visible when in use.
About me:
I'm very discreet and will not share your info. I barely even share mine, so I get it.
I've sold over 4,000 transactions on eBay and have a perfect top rated seller rating with ZERO negative feedback. Add hundreds of other sales via other mediums. Confidence covered.
Yes, these were ALL personally recycled/salvaged by me before they were destroyed in a compacting truck on my neighborhood streets.
Want to see the Sterling Silver before and after shots?
Just need boiling water, tin foil, baking soda, and a toothbrush. Magic.
Super tarnished:

Super shiny after a few minutes:
If you like something, please comment below and we can move over to Discord. These are just starter items for fun. I have tons to list.
Challenge me to find something for you. Also ask if I already have it, because I have so much stuff from over the years, you wouldn't believe it.
My goals here are to convert my recycling efforts into some crypto, promote recycling awareness worldwide, help people get interesting items, and, mainly to build a static use case for Steem so others start doing the same in their own way. We need demand for Steem and to leverage its fee-less transactions. With so many stalled or ghosted projects, more of us need to start grassroots.
So here I am. Help me build.
Thanks so much,
@steemmatt
Bonus find for fun:
Walking by in the rain last Tuesday, this is exactly what I saw in passing since I only look for clear bags...
Oh hello. I know that shape anywhere...
Have any clue? How sharp is your eye?
So what the heck is it???
Finders keepers. OS reinstalled for a factory reset via wifi. A free iMac. I also have a verbal from a gym owner for $2,800 cash on a fitness machine I found last month pending pickup from my storage unit. Fingers crossed.
Justine's rodeo hip-flask pouch! Lol.
Why stop there? I also see ammo magazines in it for your shooting range trips, or a spare Lego parts holder for emergencies on the go.
I can picture it now, how popular my ammo-man-bag would be down at the range. I'd go down in history as the most fashionable shooter ever! Lol.
Lol! You should've but the 'steemsilvergold' tag on your post as well! These people would go crazy that you just find silver stuff on the streets :D I love it!
You're right we should start 'actually using' STEEM, but to be honest, I'm not ready to spend it, especially not at these prices. I wanted to sell Steem Merchandise a few months ago and did a poll on who wanted to buy with STEEM or Fiat, and mixed results there too (STEEM was already far below 1$ back then).
When STEEM is back at 1-2$USD I'm going to start spending - and, with that in mind, do you sometimes find decent pieces of fabric? So no clothing, but maybe shops or fanatic hobbyists that throw away rolls of fabric?
By the way, I love that you found that silver treasure and thought of me :D
To be honest, the sewing thimble is what made me think of you. I know it's not for knitting, but sewing and knitting are too close for me in the fabric of my own imagination. Silver was a bonus.
I hear you on the timing of spending. My aim was to make the items up for grabs not too expensive, but the purchasing power of Steem is relatively low now, and I understand the normal reservation. I have to try though and some good came of it so far.
As for any polls you run, don't let one from that past snapshot and sample size deter you in any way. As this wise little kid once said:
As for fabrics, I'm not recalling any I've taken or seen top of mind, but now that it's something you might be interested in, my eyes will be peeled for anything special. I do find baskets of good yarn at thrift stores. I've even bought them for people in the past who made hand-knit gloves.
The closest things I've found outside were:
52 Skeins of various colors of DMC 3 Pearl Cotton and 53 balls of various colors of DMC 8 Pearl Cotton. All new. All sold.
I'm going to shock you: I'm not knitting either :') I'm felting! Hahaha!
I will do a 'textile art for dummies post' for you when I find the time :D
They really aren't too expensive, and if I had FIAT I would ask to buy it in USD$ as the price is super fair :-)
I'm super picky (I only want silks, and the thinnest of silks or I won't be able to use it :D) and super poor, so don't look too hard - I also know how much postage will cost, so I don't think it will ever be economical. I was just curious - I would love to know how/where I can find some scraps or left-overs over here too. I'm now buying a lot of silk on eBay, secondhand sarees from India, works perfect for me :-)
Epic. These things can be hard to find in such conditions, or are expensive when bought new. You'll have made someone really happy :D
I really like this initiative,
But then i noticed this in your feed:
I hate being reminded of the lack of correlation between effort and reward.
You should set up a shop with Steem payments!
I have no clue how to set up a shop like that, but if demand calls for it over time, I'll assume that to be the next step. As for the feed there, it's ok. I got the Legos for free, so I'm a Leg' ahead offline.
It is possible to accept Steem payments via woocommerce on a WP blog.
https://wordpress.org/plugins/woo-steem-payment-method/
Very useful. That'll be the trick when it's time. Thanks.
Yes, I've tested it, and it works perfectly! <3 Not that hard to set up either :-)
Oh really, on your own blog?
I don't think I know anyone whose used it to integrate!
Not on my blog, but on a webshop I was building a while ago :-) I lost motivation to actually launch it, but maybe I will. I got STEEM payments to work, but as I wanted to dropship the products I had some other challenges that came with adding crypto payments which is why I didn't launch it in the end. For non-dropshop-like shops it works perfect though :-)
Maybe even try the SteemLeo shop...
Thanks. It's something I should consider, especially since the site has a lot of room to grow and I could help drive a part of that. I'll see how things catch on first with my brute force method on posts and then step up my game if there's enough interest. Appreciate you following along and the support.
This is incredible. I think this would be amazing to have your business built out onto the Leoshop as well.
You would be the first person to use the shop for physical goods, I think it would be an incredible proof of use case and I would absolutely market the hell out of your product offerings.
There is more info about the shop on https://Steemleo.com/shop. But if I can help you get this all up and running, don’t hesitate to reach out to me on discord: khaleelkazi#9256
p.s. thanks for the shout @pennsif!

I will look out for more sales updates...
Certainly, especially with #leoshop which is now a place for tangible products.

Hey bro, I have some really old tonka toys, from back in the day when they were still metal. Do those things sell good? I have no clue how much to ask for them or where to post them, any helpful advice? I can send pics if u want to see them.
I had some of those too but the elements ruined them since I kept them outside like a fool. They were originally my Dad's. If they're from the 50's or 60's, you are going to be happy. The metal yellow ones that were from my generation aren't worth too much, but do sell if they were well taken care of. Post some pics and I can dig deeper.
Awesome, I appreciate you helping me. Yeah bro, they are old as shit, way before my time. I found them in an old victorian house that I bought and remodeled and I kind of forgot about them. They are in relatively good shape and really unique. I got an orange oldschool "Hydraulic" dump truck, with working hydraulics, but not the normal yellow dump trucks we had in the 80s, this is an older style I have never seen before. I got a little blue jeep tonka truck with working tailgate, in great condition. I have a 1960s style truck with working dumper, its the most used one. And a little tractor that has a working steering bar that controls the front set of wheels. I am going to take some pictures and attach them soon so you can see them :) The last two the stickers are worn or rubbed a good way off from use but I am pretty sure they are tonkas, you can still see the shape of the stickers and its the oval ones like tonka had.
These are still kind of dirty from being played with 50 years ago, but I could clean them up quite a bit. The orange dump truck and blue jeep are in very good condition.
Sup Dork?!? Enjoy the Upvote!!! Keep up with the dorky content for more love!!!
Good job man :)
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed.
Great goals you have for steem and great achievements so far. Keep scaling.
