One of wisest people I have met during my"short" time on this Earth said that "Assumption is the highest form of Ignorance". Lack of knowledge brings about ignorance. Therefore, if assumption is a form of ignorance, it is safe to say that people are destroyed as a result of assumption.

Assumption can be defined as the willingness to accepte a something as true or certain to happen, without proof or verification.
Assumption brings about costly mistakes and they tend to mislead or misguide someone into making wrong and irrational decisions. I once read that wrong assumption is the mother of all fuckups. The worst of them all is that some folks use assumption as a perfectly good excuse for a goof.

Many businesses and relationships have failed because of assumption. Acting based on an assumption can be likened to gambling. Just recently, an associate of mine started misbehaving to me, and when I sat him down to find out the reason for his recent behavior, I found out that he was acting based on a very wrong assumption.

When you're in doubt, simply seek knowledge to avoid falling into the snare of assumption. For instance; many ladies assume that "all men are cheats". In my opinion, this is a very wrong assumption. Some ladies will go further to say that "95% of men are cheats". Dear sister, which statistical package and data collection tool did you use to obtain that result. Some few days ago, I heard one guy say that he thought that Arsene Wenger was the owner of Arsenal football club, simply because "ARSENE and ARSENAL" sound alike. Really?

An individual who assumes things assumes the position of someone who knows. That is a very risk position to assume, because you assume you know when you obviously do not have a clue. Hence, you see no reason to seek knowledge. That is the danger of assumption.
How do you avoid the snare of assumption?
You avoid it by seeking for knowledge on that particular thing.
