Why You Should Watch Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba
Trailer
The first time that I ever saw the trailer for Demon Slayer was when I was watching Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (an anime that you should also check out) on Crunchyroll and an ad for it popped up and I was intrigued. So, I looked up the trailer online, watched it, and dear god the show is more than what I expected.
Origin
Demon Slayer was a manga series written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotōge in early 2016. With the series being serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump since February 2016, there are currently 19 volumes as of February 2020 and many more to come. The anime and manga are the same story and characters, so for the anime watchers, it is okay to read the manga where the anime leaves off.
The anime was adapted by the absolute legendary animators at Ufotable and was aired in Japan between April 6 to September 28, 2019. It later got an English dub which you can check out on Toonami every Saturday on Adult Swim. It is later to get a sequel film by the name of the Infinity Train which picks up where the anime left off. This showed very good ratings:
4.9/5
Crunchyroll
8.9/10
Myanimelist
8.8/10
IMDb
Plot
Young Tanjiro Kamado grew up in the mountains and sold charcoal to the nearest town to provide for his family. The peacefulness of his life is cut short when a demon attacks his family in the middle of the night while he was in town. He came home shocked that his sister, Nezuko, had been turned into a demon. He trains with Sakonji Urokodaki to become a demon slayer to find out how to turn his sister back into a human.
Reasons To Watch
First off let me just say that the animation of this anime is amazing. Ufotable could not have done any better with the CGI work of this show. Not being too much to look at while keeping the animation looking clean and smooth. The plot is simple but yet very developed. This show is really good with balance. In balance I mean the perfect amount of action, creepiness, comedy, and emotion. Not to mention that the characters are very likable and given some depth. Character backstories are what I find really interesting, for example, Kanao Tsuyuri. I won't go into detail so you guys can go and check it out.
Definitely an anime to check out if you like the shonen genre. Even if you don't like the shonen genre I highly recommend it. I would recommend this anime to anyone.
