Monero wars on ASIC producers

in #busy7 years ago

Privacy-centric encryption-based cryptographic money Monero has declared war on ASIC makers. Make it centrally, ASIC makers try to deteriorate because of producers.

On Sunday, a group of Monero developers published an update on a recurring problem in the AltoCoins, which are now profitable with GPU hardware. It was expected that Bitmain or another mining equipment manufacturer would respond to the development of a Practical Application Integrated Circuit (ASIC) miner for Cryptonight mining, XMR's Business Proof (PoW) hashing algorithm

Monero begins to take action
Monero's response was a preventive strike. Developers will try to protect the ASIC resistance of the network by slightly modifying the PoW algorithm at the planned hard fork, which is always twice a year. These changes will not be noticeable for ordinary XMR users, but they will change the network hashing algorithm until they become unusable for the Cryptonight ASIC miners by following each fork.

However, if the planned PoW tuning is not a deterrent for Cryptonight ASIC mine developers, they will make hard fork to reduce any potential threats from Monero ASICs.

Developers say that this attitude will ensure that the Monero mining continues to be relatively egalitarian and consequently decentralized. At least until the same thing is said for the ASIC mining industry

Developers made comments

"We think that it should be as equitable as possible to achieve decentralization of the transition to an ASIC-weighted network attributed to DIEBRYNE, DNaleor and Monero project. At this point, we suspect that any newly developed Cryptonight ASIC will not be egalitarian and does not create a decentralized network "

The authors may force governments to build a kill switch (emergency shutdown switch in the case of emergency) for the ASIC market, since the ASIC market is now managed by a small group of producers (especially the Chinese big Bitmain), or may only force them to sell equipment to customers who will receive a special government license.

On the other hand, GPU miners force the miners to receive licenses from the government for regulators, since their operations are based on computer parts.

Hard fork will be applied in the first PoW setting planned for March.
