I knew I am just a dummy in steemit platform. This is what I did so far - converting STEEM into SP and I am still in the middle of nothing lol

We all are! This place is complicated! Now you know, and you will definitely see the difference.
There's nothing wrong with powering up, in fact the more SP you have the better.
It works like compound interest, increasing the value of your vote, etc.
But, for now, these tips will help you grow. There are also a myriad of tools that can show you your progress on the platform but that's for another time.

Steemworld.org/@fitinfun should show you a whole heap of stats, and even has a countdown to some of your payouts.

I use this to see my wallet as it has 6 decimal places, so it's always updating.

(Just change "shaidon" to whatever account you want to see).
I use this to show me when my rewards are due, check delegations and so forth:
