Facebook continues to expand its service presence, including Facebook Lite. This time, the app was released to more countries, including Britain and the United States (US).

Reported by GSM Arena, Sunday (18/3/2018), Facebook application Lite for Android has had more than 200 million users since released in 2015.

This app was created to provide a better experience to devices with low specifications and slow data connections in emerging markets, just like Messenger Lite.

Not satisfied just present in emerging markets, Facebook is now launching Facebook Lite to developed countries including UK, US, Canada, Australia, Germany, Ireland and New Zealand.

Thus, Android device users in those countries can already download Facebook Lite in the Google Play Store.

"We see in some developed countries, there are people who have low connectivity, so we want to make sure everyone can use this app whenever desired," Facebook told Reuters.

In Indonesia alone, Facebook Lite has been present since 2015. Facebook Lite is equipped with fewer services than the original application of the service, and only takes less than 1MB of storage space, so "light" is used on low-specification devices.

Apart from Facebook Lite, Facebook on Thursday (1/3/2018), has completed testing the concept of two News Feeds in six countries. Both News Feeds contain different content types.

Facebook in the trial process created two News Feeds containing different uploads. News Feeds first focus on photos, as well as other updates from friends and family, while the second is referred to as "explore feed".

The second News Feed is devoted to things from the Page pages favored by users, such as media and sports teams. Based on test results, Facebook decided to stop testing and use one feed only. Because the survey results from the users show they do not like the change.

"People say they are not satisfied with the uploads, and seeing two separate feeds does not help them connect more with friends and family," said Adam Mosseri of Head of News Feed.

The testing of this new feature started in October 2017 in Bolivia, Cambodia, Guatemala, Serbia, Slovakia and Sri Lanka. This test quickly affected the traffic of small media in the six countries.

According to Mosseri, Facebook also received responses from users who rated the service makes it difficult for them to access important information. "We are also considered not to communicate the test clearly," he said.
